Cormier opens as 2-1 favorite over Lesnar
Often sports books will open odds on future fights even if they haven't been officially booked. Right after winning the heavyweight title at UFC 226, Daniel Cormier confronted Brock Lesnar in the Octagon setting up his first title defense. Should the bout come to fruition, Cormier will be considered the favorite coming in at -225 and Lesnar being a +175 underdog accordiing to the online bookmaker Bovada.

Finland’s Tina ‘Jelly Bean’ Lahdemaki was 5-0 heading into the first ever UFC women’s strawweight fight, vs. Claudia Gadelha at UFC Fight Night 45 on July 16, 2014. She hasn’t fought since, and has now announced her retirement at age 30, after three shoulder surgeries, marriage, and the birth of her first child. “After several injuries and not being able to fight or even train properly, I have been forced to make the tough decision to quit fighting for now,” said Lahdemaki. “I wish this wasn't the way I have to end my career and it was not an easy decision to make, but overall it has been a good run and I met lots of great people and had great experiences and now it's just time to move on.”

Hugely controversial former NFL player Greg Hardy got a UFC contract after fighting on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, but it was developmental in nature. Hardy will return to DWTNCS on August 7 vs. Tebaris Gordon.
