Chris Weidman, Dominick Reyes both want Jones with win
Weidman: “The goal at middleweight had been to get my belt back and defend it a few more times, but I wasn’t really excited about that because I’d already done it. But now ... I don’t think it gets better than beating the greatest of all-time at middleweight, then going up to light heavyweight and becoming the champion there and then beating the greatest of all-time there. Then it would be, ‘Peace out and thanks everyone.’" Reyes: “Chris and I are both in the same position, I think. The winner of this fight seems to be in the best spot. ... Chris is a legend and beating a legend is always good for the brand. But obviously everyone knows what Jon has done and so I understand I have this huge opportunity in front of me."

Yair Rodriguez responds to Jeremy Stephens 'die' comments
The main event of UFC on ESPN+ 17 ended in an NC at just 0:15 when Rodriguez inadvertently poked Stephens in the eye; the two scuffled the next day, and are more bitter than the Michael Douglas character in Falling Down. Stephens recently said, "I’m gonna kill this kid. If he don’t die, it don’t count. ... Personal? F@$% yeah, it’s personal." Now, El Pantera responds: “I think he already has a lot of problems in his life, stuff that he has to deal with and I don’t really want to keep on pushing too much into his head. I want him fresh for this fight. He is a tough opponent, and I don’t want him to be weak and this is showing me that he is weak. I want him fresh.” h/t MMA Mania
Abdelaziz barred from PFL events pending legal resolution of latest incident
Controversial manager Ali Abdelaziz was cited for battery by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department after a 10/11 incident in which he is alleged to have punched rival manager Abe Kawa in the face; witnesses described it an unprovoked attack. PFL statement: “At league direction, Ali Abdelaziz will not be attending upcoming postseason events. Given the fact this is a legal matter, the league has no further comment at this time.” Abdelaziz’s Dominance MMA client list includes Khabib Nurmagomedov, Kamaru Usman, Henry Cejudo, and a significant percentage of the PFL's roster. h/t MMA Junkie
Charles Rosa aims to defy all odds with return after 30 months
Rosa injured his neck in 2017 and was told by an MD a return to the cage was "improbable" but he returns at UFC on ESPN 6 on Friday vs. Manny 'The Bermudez Triangle' Bermudez: “I had that moment where the doctor said, ‘You should consider hanging it up.' That almost bought tears to my eyes when he said that. There was silence in the room. I stopped and I said, ‘What’s the other option?’ He didn’t really say, so I told him what the other option is: ‘I’m going to defy all odds and I’m going to beat this. I’m going to work hard and I’m going to do everything I can possibly do to come back.' ... I just feel like he’s a one-trick pony. I’m a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and I train at American Top Team with the best fighters on the planet. ... I know that if I can hang with those guys that are specialists in each thing that there’s no doubt I’ll be ready for Manny.'” h/t MMA Junkie • Watch interview (10:02)
Gillian Robertson plans to derail Maycee Barber hype train on Friday
“I think the perception going against me is that they have to just avoid the takedown, but it’s not that easy to do that when you get in there with me. No matter what, I’m going to drag you into my world. Maycee has that big hype train going on, but I kind of feel like if I go out and perform the way I know I can, some of that will shift to me. That’s why I can’t wait for this fight.” h/t Yahoo Sports
Maycee Barber: I'd beat Valentina Shevchenko, 'dominate' Weili Zhang right now
Maycee 'The Future' Barber, 21, has two years to beat Jon Jones' record for youngest UFC champ, and fights Gillian Robertson on Friday at UFC on ESPN 6: “I’m not trying to rush anything. Technically, I believe if I was offered the fight with Valentina tomorrow I’d go in there and I truly believe I could win that fight ... but why do it right now? Why not take the next couple years and not just go out there and fight her, but go out there and dominate her. [Shang] is the one I believe I could take right now, I could go in and just dominate that fight. Valentina could be back-and-forth and I believe I could take that title still, but I would rather have it be a beatdown than a back-and-forth brawl.” h/t MMA Junkie
