League officials are announcing that the 2009 season will be suspended. ESPN tried so hard to cram this junior version of pro FB down our throats over the last few years. And now its toast.
Do you think they would've had the same results if they had gone with MMA?
Do you think the failure of the AFL will create an opportunity for MMA? Or will they fill that program inventory with fishing, bowling, high school sports, or some other lesser product?

I actually heard they were starting an MMA promotion. It could be a rumor though.

Not that this has anything to do with MMA but just heard from a guy on the board of the AFL and it is not suspending the season that is bad report.

AFL has existed for 21 years. Even though it has had more exposure over the last several years, the only time it interested me was as a child when guys would get jacked over the boards on the side.
The league has not made the announcement yet. They made an announcement that stated they would be making massive improvements to their operation, but many people assume that they will be suspending operations for the season, if not forever.
Rumors like this don't generally pop up from nowhere, and I'd be willing to bet within the enxt few days you see some kind of release that announces the suspension of football activity.

Yes, but they are starting it very small...on ESPN Deportes the 1st year, and then hoping to move it to ESPN 1 or 2 the second year.

I know I never saw a game in person. And I don't know anyone who ever went to a game.

A major electronics retailer that owns an AFL team did sponsor Chuck Liddel when he fought Vanderlay Silva.
