Festibrawl 09/02/12 - Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Event on September 2, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada USA
Fear not, fight fans – there will still be fights in Las Vegas this Labor Day weekend. The nation’s premier amateur MMA promotion returns to Sin City on Sunday, Sept. 2, with an incredible lineup of five title fights, live music, free beer sampling and a collection of Las Vegas’ best gourmet food trucks for a one-of-a-kind “Festi-Brawl.” “Tuff-N-Uff: The Future Stars of MMA” welcomes fight fans to Las Vegas’ South Point Arena for a full lineup of 16 total bouts, including five championship contests, and a special appearance by “The Ultimate Fighter 16? coach and onetime UFC title challenger Shane Carwin. Tuff-N-Uff is excited to celebrate the upcoming holiday with a special Sunday-night event, and we’ll have fantastic food, complimentary beer sampling and live music by The Garage Boys in addition to one of our most stacked fight cards of the year. Add in an appearance by Shane Carwin, and this is a can’t-miss night of entertainment.” The “Festi-Brawl” pre-party, which includes food, drinks and live music, starts at 5 p.m. The night’s first fight is at 7 p.m. The “Tuff-N-Uff: Festi-Brawl” main event sees seven-time Tuff-N-Uff veteran Jake Swinney (6-2) defend his Tuff-N-Uff lightweight title against undefeated Missouri import Tom Morales (4-0). The House of RYU-trained Morales recently earned a decision win in his Tuff-N-Uff debut and will now look to take the belt from Xtreme Couture’s Swinney, who needed just 57 seconds to claim the belt this past April. And just weeks after Tuff-N-Uff alumna Ronda Rousey defended her Strikeforce title belt, Tuff-N-Uff continues its tradition of developing top female talent. After picking up impressive wins earlier this month at “Mayhem in Mesquite,” Cortney Casey (4-1) and 125-pound tournament winner Rachel Cummins (2-2) meet for Tuff-N-Uff’s female flyweight title, and Drysdale Jiu-Jitsu’s Jordan McDonald (4-3) meets Mohlers MMA’s Jinh Yu (3-1) with a women’s 110-pound belt on the line. Additional championship fights include a bout for the vacant welterweight title, as Xtreme Couture’s Byron Fields (3-1) meets Throwdown’s Kawika Lagasca (2-1), and a contest for the vacant bantamweight crown as the undefeated Team Calvancati product Fard Muhammad (3-0) faces CMS Fight Team’s Steve Ramirez (7-1). Rounding out the featured fights is the opening round of a four-man 125-pound tournament as Carlos Juinio (3-2) meets Shai Lindsey (2-1) and Jerome Ataman (1-2) faces Bryce Harley (0-0) In addition to the night’s headlining contests, a full lineup of aspiring amateur fighters from some of the world’s top academies – including 10th Planet, Cobra Kai, Drysdale MMA, Felony Fighters, House of RYU, Throwdown, Wand Fight Team and Xtreme Couture – will compete at Tuff-N-Uff’s Sept. 2 event. Tickets for “Tuff-N-Uff: Fist-ival,” which start at just $25, are available by calling the South Point Arena Box Office at (702) 796-7111 or online at SouthPointArena.com.
