Headlining Ultra Star’s 1st RUF MMA fight card is local Maricopan and former Heavyweight Champ “Dale Sopi” who is no stranger to the steal cage. He is a resident of the area and trains at various gyms in the valley. He has MMA roots that go back to earlier days when he fought for Rage in The Cage and was their Heavyweight champion. His opponent is former Bellator contender “Dan Charles”10-3 who’s been seen on the National fighting circuit for the world renowned MMA promotion “Bellator”. Charles got back in the win column this past September when he knocked out Chase Gormley in the second round at Bellator 143. That got him back on track after a TKO loss to WWEs superstar Bobby Lashley at Bellator 138, which snapped a two-fight winning streak. In his earlier fighting days, he had fought Dale Sopi at Rage in The Cage 169 and lost by TKO to Sopi. Charles is now looking to avenge his loss to Sopi in front of a home town crowd. In our co-main event, former UFC fighter, legend Drew “The Master” Fickett will be squaring off with Casa Grande’s own Jeff “The Threat” Fletcher at 155 lbs. Fickett (42-21) 37 years of age, a former UFC fighter, has fought on the big stage with UFC legends and current big name contenders in Nick Diaz, Karo Parisyan, Justin Gaethje, Josh Koscheck, Kenny Florian, and many others. He is coming off a 3 fight losing streak and is ready to get back in the winners column. Veteran Pro Jeff “The Threat” Fletcher (8-12) is preparing for the fight of his life and is confident he will beat Fickett on April 29th. He is always a threat to anyone he gets in the cage with. He is now training with YUMA United, one of the best MMA gyms in the country where UFC contender Kelvin Gastelum trains at. This will be a great treat for all MMA fans, witnessing 2 MMA Veterans show off their crafty skills and showmanship for the crowd. According to Ringside Promotions, LLC President, & RUF MMA Matchmaker ‘Joel Lopez”, there will be 10-12 additional bouts and belt championships on the undercard. The public will see the very best amateurs go at it for wins, belts & pride! You will not want to miss these prospects on the rise. Many UFC fighters made their start with RUF MMA. These are the best fights to watch because they have something to prove. They are hungry to make a name for themselves and they leave it all in the cage. This event is sure to sell out and will be full of thrilling bouts and key match ups like you have never seen before. “It's exciting for us to be able to bring our RUF MMA brand to The Ak Chin Indian Community and to the Ultra Star for the 1st time.
