Sporting event-Martial arts Kaiten Mixed Martial Arts Academy is proud to present Prince George’s first Brazilian Jujitsu, Grappling and Kickboxing tournament! “West Coast Combat Championship” Round Robin Submission Only! June 25th 2017. The 2017 West Coast BJJ Grappling Championship takes place on Sunday, June 25th with the registration starting at 9:00am at the Connaught Youth Centre, 1491 17th Avenue, Prince George, BC- Pre-online registration and full rules available now at http://jiujitsulife.com/tournament/ “Finally the day has come! KaIten MMA is bringing home our own open martial arts tournament to Northern BC” We invite all martial art schools and systems to compete under our rules of our event in both striking and grappling genres. DIVISIONS: We will be offering Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and No-Gi Grappling divisions for: Tots 3 – 5 years old: 2-minutes rounds, BJJ Divisions Only, points only, no Submissions Kids 6 -15years old: 3-minute rounds and older Kickboxing, BJJ and No-Gi BJJ Divisions, Submissions Only, no points Teens and adult 16 years and older: 4-minute rounds in Kickboxing, BJJ and No-Gi BJJ Divisions, Submissions Only, no points ALL DIVISIONS WILL BE CREATED THE DAY OF BASED ON SEX, AGE, WEIGHT, AND SKILL TO INSURE FAIRNESS. ALL COMPETITORS AGE 6 AND OLDER CAN COMPETE IN ONE, OR MORE DIVISIONS. The weigh-ins starts at 9:00am and all matches start at 10:00am sharp. We will hold all tots divisions first. Online Registration Cost Is: only $39 plus tax for one division (in person registration the day of is $49 plus tax) only $15 for each additional divisions. Admission is free! IN ORDER TO INSURE FAIRNESS WE WILL CREATE ALL DIVISIONS FOR COMPETITORS THE DAY OFF BY MATCHING THE COMPETITOR’S SEX, WEIGHT, AGE, AND EXPERIENCE. WEST COAST MARTIAL ARTS CHAMPIONSHIP BJJ AND SUBMISSION GRAPPLING BRIEF RULES: This round-robin tournament is to gain as much tournament experience as possible. Injury or rule infringement) Match Format: One 2 minute round for tots, one 3 minute round for juniors age 6-15 or one 4 minute round for all teens and adults age 16 and older with a minimum of 3 minutes rest between fights. Scoring system Fighters fight in a round-robin format within their weight category. 3 points are awarded for a win, 1 point each for a draw (i.e. no referee stoppage, or no submission after 5 minutes) and 0 points for a loss. Fouls,Referees: BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU RULES AND NO GI GRAPPLING ILLEGAL SUBMISSIONS: Any submission other than Armbars, Chokes, Kimuras or Americana for the 12 year old and under divisions Any leg attacks in the 15 year old and under divisions Any wrist locks, elbow or knee slicers, spinal attacks or leg locks other than straight foot locks KICKBOXING SPARRING RULES: All divisions are held in a round-robin format with each fight being 2 minutes in length. Ways to win By majority decision by the three corner judges, referee stoppage (due to submission, being unable to defend themselves effectively, injury or rule infringement) or corner stoppage. Scoring system Fighters fight in a round-robin format within their weight category. Points will be awarded based on majority decision of 3 judges. 3 points are awarded for a win, 1 point each for a draw (i.e. no referee stoppage, no submission and ruled as a draw) and 0 points for a loss.
