Career
Lee "Lightning" Murray (Lee Lamrani Ibrahim Murray) (born November 12, 1977 in London, England) is a British mixed martial arts fighter of partial Moroccan descent.[1]. He has a professional MMA record of 8-2-1 as of September 11, 2004.
A legend in the streets of London, rumored to have won hundreds of street fights, Murray got into a scuffle with then-UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz outside of a nightclub in London after UFC 38 in July 2002. Both drunk, Murray claims to have knocked Tito down (possibly KO) and kicked him in the face. Matt Hughes intervened and jumped on Tito's back to protect him. Pat Miletich, another UFC competitor, pulled Murray away and broke up the fight. Tito denies any such events occurred but other UFC fighters claim witness to the altercation. Pat Miletich said of the altercation: "Lee lit him up like a christmas tree, and kicked his head like a football."
Murray was hospitalized after being stabbed in a brawl outside the Funky Buddha club in London during a glamour model party on 28 September 2005. He suffered from a punctured lung and a severed artery.[2] [3] According to the doctor who performed the life saving surgery on Murray he was resuscitated four times during the operation which saved his life. When thanked, the Doctor remarked that Lee should thank the nurses who ran the bags of blood from the blood bank because that is what saved his life.
