Nakema Minnich Fighter Bio
I have been practicing martial arts for my whole life. As a child I started in Tae Kwon Do, Shudokon Karate, Kung Fu and wrestling. Later, in my early 20's I trained in Boxing under Father Pat with the U.M. Boxing club. Like most young men my age I was inspired by Royce Gracie as he effortlessly dominated the early UFC's. So in 2005 I began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Ryan Fiorenzi, who was the first BJJ black belt in the state of Michigan and the owner of East West Martial Arts. Ryan was taught by legonday Instructor Rigon Machado (cousin to the Gracie brothers). I have been practicing BJJ nearly every day now for 5 years and hold the rank of Purple Belt with 2 stripes. In that time I have competed in many MMA, BJJ, and Submission grappling competitions and hold several titles. In 2008 I trained for a year under Muay Thai instructor Boots Cooper and improved my striking game tremendously. I am currently on a winning streak and the #1 contender for the Ohio Cage Combat Welterweight Belt. Expecting that title fight in November 2010. I plan on pursuing a professional fighting career starting in late 2011. I am a certified personal trainer with years of experience preparing athletes for ring sports. I am currently pursueing a Degree in Exercise Science, and have 10 years experience as a chef. After my competitive career winds down I plan to tie in all my skills and Own my own gym where I can build up fighters and non fighters to be the best that they can be.
