Career
Fabricio Werdum is a Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter. He is Mirko Filipovi?'s coach in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Werdum has a professional MMA record of 9-2-1 as of November 12, 2006. Although he lost to Sergei Kharitonov in 2005, he advanced to the second stage of PRIDE Fighting Championships' Absolute Grand Prix, with an impressive submission victory over Dutch fighter Alistair Overeem. Werdum lost his next match, however, via unanimous decision to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at PRIDE-Critical Countdown Absolute on July 1, 2006. He was on the point of fighting the former Judo Gold Medal, Pawel Nastula, at last September 2006 Grand Prix, but Nastula refused to sign in. He introduced and developed alongside Robin Gracie, Alexander "Minduin" and Tito Beltrán BJJ in Spain.
In Zagreb, Croatia, Werdum has a jiu-jitsu academy Winner - Werdum Croatia Academy (www.winner-croatia.com) established by his former coach Maurição and his pupil Bojan Mirkovic.
Werdum recently signed with the UFC, but lost his first match via unanimous decision to former champion Andrei Arlovski at UFC 70 in Manchester, England.
