Career
Antonio Banuelos was born September 23rd, 1979. He was raised in a Tulare, located in the San Joaquin Valley of central California, a middle child, the second of three boys. Antonio was a single sport athlete. He began wrestling at an early age, continuing to wrestle throughout this childhood. As a child, he often traveled the state and country, participating in various wrestling competitions
Antonio’s first MMA bout came in 2001. During his first few years of fighting, Antonio found it difficult getting bouts at this natural weight of 135-lbs. Competing in much heavier weight classes, Antonio still found success. In 2003, Antonio began to solely compete at his natural weight of 135-lbs. It is at this weight, where he is considered to be one the best in the world.
Antonio, a member of the famed Pit Fight Team, is a Brown belt in Hawaiian Kempo under John Hackleman. He currently holds the 135-lb. W.E.C. North American Belt. When not training for a fight, Antonio instructs grappling at SLO Kickboxing Academy with long time friend and training partner Cruz Gomez.
