Career
Dean Richard "Boogeyman" Lister (February 13, 1976 in San Diego, California ) is an American mixed martial arts fighter and a former KOTC champion. He currently fights at the Middleweight division after recently moving down from the Light Heavyweight class. Dean was also an assistant coach on the third season of a popular Spike TV show, The Ultimate Fighter.
Dean Lister grew up in a military family and lived in several South American countries including Venezuela and Panama. He lived in Panama during the U.S. invasion in 1989, and, according to Dean, he was "right in the middle of a serious combat zone".
After living in several different cities in the United States, Lister's family settled in San Diego for Dean's high school years
In 2006, Dean's sparring partner and the former light heavyweight UFC champion Tito Ortiz invited Dean to be his assistant grappling coach on the third season of The Ultimate Fighter. The show exposed Dean to a large TV audience, and, in combination with multiple praises from the fighters on the show, increased his popularity
