John Salter : 6-0-0
John Salter is an amateur middleweight fighter with a perfect record of 6-0-0. He has proven himself to be an exceptionally versatile fighter, combining an aggressive "ground and pound" technique, typical of a wrestler of his caliber, with an amazing arsenal of submissions and Jiu-Jitsu skills.
John, a Birmingham, AL native, attended Lindenwood University in St. Louis, MO, where he won the 2007 NAIA National Wrestling Championship at 174lbs. John also won an Alabama H.S. State Championship at 145lbs in 2002.
After graduating from Lindewood University, John went on to win various national grappling tournaments, including the 2007 NAGA Nationals (No-Gi, middleweight) Expert Division, as well as the 2007 Casca Grossa (No-Gi, 175lb and up) Professional Division, where he defeated UFC fighter Roan Carneiro in the tournament finals.
Since his first MMA fight in August of 2007, John has met progressively more competitive and better skilled opponents, but has continued to dominate inside the ring. With 3 wins by submission, 2 wins by TKO, and a unanimous decision win over an undefeated pro fighter, John is proving to everyone watching that he has what it takes to rise to the top of this extremely competitive, and always brutal sport. John also holds the ECI Amateur Middleweight Title.
Currently, John is competing in a “King of the Cage” (KOTC) tournament where he is competing for a professional contract. He is one of 4 amateur fighters in the country who qualified for the national tournament by winning both of his regional fights in May 2008. The national tournament is to take place in the KOTC event scheduled for November 26, 2008 in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
John is now working with CSE Management and Burn This City Designs on a marketing and publicity campaign in order to gain more recognition nationally, as well as develop solid, mutually beneficial relationships with select companies that share his ambitions.
John trains full-time with his coach Chris Connolly at “Spartan Fitness” and is working on his MBA at The University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB). John also spends time putting on clinics for junior high and high school wrestlers.
