Weigh-in day for Reality Fighting at Mohegan Sun
Today I will travel 80 miles or so from my home in Western MA to central CT for weigh-in at Mohegan Sun Arena. My camp is over, my body and mind are ready for the challenge, and I am excited to be hitting the road with my corners/ coaches/ friends this afternoon. At the beginning of my journey into MMA I was a 240lb man with serious health issues. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2008 and I started to train with RavenousMMA in 2009. I can't tell you how much it's changed me in every way, but it has. On the physical side I am a lighter much more physically fit person. I fight at 145lbs and walk around at 155 with no problem. My internal health is improved and in many ways become a non issue. Although my Crohn's and many of the issues it aggrivates will never go away, I have adopted a better lifestyle which is flexible enough to feel almost normal. I can't work a 9-5, but I can make it to my training center 5-6 times a week regularly and have no ill effects. Mentally I am a different person. I've become aware of myself and that helps to keep me in balance. It's tough for me to explain, but I am easily overwhelmed by tasks I create for myself. Some that are necessary for sure, but most are just because. I am a teacher to many because I never stop learning. My passion is learning. I thirst for knowledge. I am always reading and doing. I love it. It makes me tick.
