Fighter Bio
Career
Sam "The Alaskan Assassin" Hoger (born Samuel Earl Hoger on June 28, 1980 in Eagle River, Alaska) is a mixed martial arts fighter most notable for appearing on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, a reality television series produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship and broadcast on Spike TV. Hoger currently trains with Miletich Fighting Systems in Davenport, Iowa and fights in the Light Heavyweight division of the UFC.
Hoger made it to the semi-finals on the show without having to fight. His comments at the time suggested a calculated effort on his part to avoid fighting until as late as possible. This, together with his apparent theft of petty items from his house mates and subsequent refusal to admit any specific wrongdoing in his vague apology, made him a virtual pariah among the rest of the contestants. He was eliminated in his first fight on the show, suffering a second-round TKO to the eventual winner of the Light Heavyweight division, Forrest Griffin.
On the night of the finale, he won a unanimous decision against Bobby Southworth. After his performance on the finale, he was signed to a UFC contract.
