Fighter Bio
Career
Andre Gusmao (born May 19, 1977) is a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from Goiania, Brazil. Andre Gusmao trains under Renzo Gracie in New York, where he has lived for several years. At one point Andre Gusmao studied law in university. He is a veteran of the the International Fight League where he fights for the New York Pitbulls.
Andre Gusmao is a purple corda in Capoeira and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner under Renzo Gracie While Gusmao is a relative newcomer to MMA, he has walked away with victories in his first two fights. In April 2006, Gusmao quickly dispatched John Swangler in 13 seconds at a Sportfighting event in New Jersey. He made his IFL debut in September, finishing Mike Ciesnolevicz by TKO in the second round.
