Fighter Bio
Career
David Terrell was born in Sacramento, California where he was raised with his older brother and younger sister. At the age of 12 David moved North to Santa Rosa, California where he currently resides today. He began wrestling shortly after that in Junior High School. It was then that Dave picked up wrestling and a love for individual competitive sports.
During this time David stumbled upon a new form of competition known as the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It was "UFC 1" where Royce Gracie and his abilities to dominate larger, stronger opponents fascinated David. It wouldn't be long before Dave would jump head first into this new form of competition. He enrolled in the Caesar Gracie Academy and started taking Brazilian Jui-Jitsu classes.. Dave excelled quickly as he dominated grappling tournaments and soon earned his Black Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
David made a name for himself as one of the top grapplers in America. His resume includes the Sacramento Submission Tournament Champion, Grapplers Quest 2002 Absolute Champion, 2x Gracie Open Superfight Champion, and taking 3rd place at the 2003 Abu-Dhabi. David has never been scored on in grappling competition and has an extensive list of A-list grapplers that he has defeated! Those names include Dena Lister, Ricardo Almeida, Cameron Earle, and "Margarida".
It wouldn't be long before David would cross over into Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and continue his road to success. He is currently 5-2 in MMA competition were he won the IFC Light Heavyweight Championship, is ranked #4 in Japan's Pancrase organization, and is currently a UFC Middleweight contender. David was introduced into the UFC in 2004 where he was slated to face the # 1 Middleweight Contender Matt "The Law" Lindland. He knocked Lindland out in just 0:25 seconds and made a huge statement in his UFC debut. It would not get any easier for David who would face Evan Tanner next for the Middleweight Title. David lost a tough fought battle but would live on to fight another day.
