Is it for. Support.or for. Protection?
Asics gel are the ones wrestlers use. Neoprene with padding. Mild lateral.support.
Otherwise if it's for stability, then u need a brace probably with inserts

u also might consider the effect of your food choices as far as weight on the legs and inflammation

Bauerfiend are the best but they're expensive, I found some generic ones on amazon that are basically the same thing

Full Support High Compression Therapy Knee Brace w/ Metal Frame and Knee Padding (Grey/Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J90SA4O/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_lOPrzb47M71NN

Also found some sweet lime green ones on eBay that are pretty good, not quite the quality of bauerfiend but still better than most I've used

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/222256717014

I've always used Asics Gels and has good results with them for padding.  As far as a soft brace that is allowed in competition....I tend to prefer McDavid

I like these, if you want something more substantial.

Just get some basic volleyball pads, works for me. Got a few cases of bursitis where a gentle touch on one point would send me screaming through the roof. Been wearing pads ever since :)

Another recommendation for volleyball kneepads. i've been wearing the basic Mizuno ones for years. Great quality, and you can throw them in the wash with no worries about them losing shape or elasticity.
