The broader an audience gets, the stupider it becomes.

I love Star Wars. But videos like this are my Star Wars:

The vast vast majority don't or can't get it. They want Darth Maul fighting good Darth Maul in full fledged lightsaber porn.

Characterization and the conflict of uncompromising ideologies are completely lost on them.

I know I'm not the only Star Wars snob.

Thankfully Star Trek was a nerdy niche show for decades and never reached that mainstream appeal where the creative teams could toss out their core audience for a long time.

This is what makes Star Wars good:

It is the character driven story where these insanely powerful beings who are ignornat confront their ignorance and how they react to solve it.

It is also about how the normal people like Han Solo survive in a world this dangerous against them. By trying to step on Vader with an AT-AT that's how!

Speaking of overcoming ignorance:

Sooooooo many good Star Wars comics. A lot of the novels were good as well, but I was really impressed with a lot of the comics

I've read alot of the old dark horse comics, the bane trilogy, and the new novels that are highly reviewed.

I also played Kotor 1 and 2 WAY too much.
