LeBron is already top5 of all time at the very least. I put him at #3 behind Jordan and Kareem. But his career is not close to being done, and hes playing his best basketball of his career right now as we speak.
Of course, the only way to trash LeBron is to compare him to Jordan. That is unfair.
Let me preface this by saying that Jordan is #1 on my list, and unbelievably good. Him and LeBron play completely different styles so its hard to compare.
But just for the haters to see, LeBron can definitely hold a candle to MJ.
"Jordan was 6-0 in the finals"
That is an overrated stat. Jordan played in a weaker league, winning his championships during an era of expansion and low talent. By this logic, Bill Russell should be the GOAT, but we know the level of the league was very low back then.
The NBA is currently in a talent boom. The league has never been more skilled, more prepared, more athletic. LeBron dominates in an era much better than Jordans.
LeBron lead his team to the finals as a 22 year old, beating a very underrated Pistons team. Of course his finals record is worse, because he brought his team to more finals at a younger age! When Jordan was still learning how to be a winner, LeBron had already taken the reigns of a team and carried them to the promised land.
LeBron has taken his team to the 2nd round in EVERY playoff trip. Jordan was swept 2x by Boston. The 6-0 finals stat is just cherry picking crap.
"LeBron is relies on other stars to win"
LOL! The thread title alone debunks this.
Jordan played with AMAZING hall of fame talent. Pippen, Rodman, Kerr, all hall of famers. Other lesser known studs like Ron Harper and Toni Kukoc, were no joke either. BJ armstrong one of the best shooters ever.
And Jordan NEVER won without a solid supporting cast. I'd argue he even had MORE star supporters.
And on top of that, Jordan had a revolutionary coach in PJ. LeBron had to leave cleveland to get a decent coach.
"Jordan played against tougher competition"
FALSE! In fact, usually it was Jordan’s team who was the top dog and his teams beat on teams with lower records.
In his first Finals appearance, and his last three Finals appearances, James’ opponents had a better regular season record. Jordan’s opponents only had a better regular season record once (the Phoenix Suns).
LeBron was an underdog in the majority of his finals appearances. The 73 win warriors were better than any team Jordan got past in the finals. And the Spurs too.
Who did Jordan have to get by in the east... Reggie miller and Patrick ewing? LOL.
I think Jordan and LeBron are alot closer than most people make it seem like. And I think by the time LeBron retires, he will be undisputable #1. Only time will tell though. Let's see how his career unfolds.
