This is pretty crazy.  The hacker basically was able to take control of the reporter's life.  He even told him, "I could have you homeless if I wanted."  

This is a short video (11 minutes) and very eye opening.

Whats realistic?

For example, can they reduce the balance on their credit cards or add money to their bank accounts?

What about something like expunging or amending criminal history or a driving record?

^ In the video, the hacker was able to gain access and control all of the reporter's accounts.

I'm assuming they could empty your bank accounts, credit cards etc.

Not sure how hard it would be to access and edit / eliminate public records. I assume it would depend on the level of security protecting those systems.
