There are already parts of it that have turned out to be true. It may be mostly fake but it is not pure fiction
- People are saying that Cohen never went to the country specified in the dossier. Truth is the dossier specified that he flew to another country and then drove to prague to avoid passports.
- People say it was Hillary. Truth is John McCain brought it to the government and it was originally commissioned by republicans.
If you are spouting those talking points consider your news sources
Cohen never went.
There was another person with the same name that went, completely unrelated to politics.
Who ever put this dossier together (most likely Russian) pulled public available information to give it some validity, and then fabricated the following nefarious details that quite obviously never happened.
The FBI may have used it to obtain a FISA warrant due to the easily verified (set up to be that way) information, but it's been proven that details pertaining to any corrupt or illegal activity were completely fake.
Putting any stock in this is ridiculous and simply holding onto wishful thinking from pathetic partisans.
I don't know how you can accept that explanation from "govt sources" but not all the other ones that say some of the stuff did happen.
The FBI are the ones that couldn't corroborate prague, but what about the other meetings? Why is Trump's lawyer acting as an intermediary between the Kremlin and Flynn? You have to admit it's weird.
It's not just "government sources", Cohen came out himself and completely denied everything said about him. He also gave up his passport which completely debunked what the dossier said about his travels.
The dossier was a beguiling report that caught the FBI's attention, and nothing else. There's a reason why all the truly egregious claims are completely unverifiable, with no real evidence to support them.
It was a government source that said a different Cohen was the one in Prague. Someone privy to the investigation. So the FBI isn't just taking the dossier at face value they have investigated it and proven this part to have been incorrect or incomplete.
The stuff that is accurate, like the delivery of the envelope, should carry equal weight. If you are going to hammer him for mistaking one cohen for another, you have to also give him credit for the things he got right. It shows the dossier wasn't completely fabricated but also it isn't completely accurate imo
