Good for him. Dude signed with the UFC in late Dec 2014. Only took him 3 years to get where most hobbyists get in 2.

awesome, but BJJ and their belts isn't a big deal.Jon Jones and mighty mouse iirc are white or blue belts.none of the UFC champs focus BJJ(except interim lw champ).
if he made JUCO wrestling that'll be more impressive.

Isn’t it normal for most people training often 4x week or more to get a blue belt in one year?

Im hoping Punk has devoloped some skill and can redeem himself but good lord he isn’t talented

I really hope the next guy he fights knocks him out on the feet to set an example. Gall let him off way too easy by playing safe.

Took even longer than 3 years. He had already been training BJJ for a while when he signed with the UFC.

Yeah when he first signed everyone was defending him saying “he’s been doing BJJ and Muay Thai for awhile!” I thought he was already a blue haha

To be fair, Gall's stand up is pretty fucking horrible. Before Mickey dropped Sage, he looked like he had as much experience boxing as Punk had.

Fuck guys even when he achieves something by grinding it out he's still getting hate for taking 3 years.  If his instructors awarded him a blue belt in one year everyone would call his instructors phonies and running a McDojo.

Can't the UG just give a guy a break and some props for putting in some effort for once?  (and I'm not even a fan of the guy...didn't know who he was until the Gall fight)

He’s working hard and training and all you couch losers still hate on him for no reason (obvious jealousy). Fact is he should be considered a fighter now whether you agree with him getting a UFC fight or not, he’s fought now and he’s been training for years.

I don’t hate on him .... but it’s funny that he used to answer the rank question by saying he doesn’t believe in that and he’s ‘forever a white belt because he’s always learning’

Turns out he was just a guy that didn’t want to admit he was a beginner.

Congrats CM. Hoping this man can get a couple regional fights and compete against guys on his level.
