Don't be an idiot. Neck cranks like that have tapped many experienced grapplers.

The pain can be BAD... And depending on where it is applied it can fuck up the jaw, nose and/or neck. But it's mostly a pain move.

If you take a breath and your mouth opens, your jaw is going to get pushed backwards and it will hurt like a motherfucker. Phone Post

Yeah.. when someone forces their forearm in another person's mouth, that tends to happen.

For all the ug alphas saying no one taps to that, check out the bjj kumite and how Gary tonon has tapped a few guys with it, it's a legit technique. Phone Post

it absolutely sucks being neck crank, your head and neck only want to turn so far and really doesnt like being forced further, especially the way rondas head was turned I thought it was all over. Full respect to both fighters.

What was Rousey doing with her hands? She was trying to take the hooks out when she should have had two on one on the choking arm. Yes she got out of it but she could have easily had her arm trapped too.

Text book defence: hands on the choking arm. Phone Post

No choke here, no need to hand fight. She knew if she just peeled the hooks off she could reverse her and that's exactly what happened.

Imagine if the first UFC women's fight ended with the face of the division getting killed by having her neck snapped by a bull dyke marine...shit would have been the biggest disaster EVER!

This is the correct.

Rousey wasn't in any trouble. She put Carmouche's arm against the jawline, made space between the hips, then spun Carmouche around, exactly how that should be defended. Menjivar's mistake was that he wasn't trying to move Faber from the centerline. Once the backmounted person is away from the centerline, their leverage is gone and gravity and momentum can spin them to the front and the ground.

As far as the neck crank, if it had Rousey in legit trouble, she wouldn't be bending into and away from it the way she was when working on Carmouche's hooks. She would have had her back straight and the head going with the crank.

Looking like a bad position and being a bad position are two different things, and it takes mat time to be able to tell them apart.

And one more observation, look at Rousey's knees. When she bends them towards each other she is droping her base to hold carmouche's weight on her back. She waivers a bit, but that's because it's a slight trade, a little bit of balance lost from the closeness of the knees and feet for a whole lot of center of gravity being lowered to knee height.

The knee adjustment is 100% top level judo. If her feet were further apart when her weight dropped there wouldn't be the least bit of waivering from that stance.
