Can Fox afford to dick around and pull programming in a vengeful way like Spike did?

UG Original June 2002 - I'd call this Breaking News. NOBODY is reporting it yet.

Thanks, Logic!

The story broke around an hour ago, before this thread was made.

Not linking a source ≠ breaking a story.

"ESPN is doubling down on UFC, the mixed martial arts league the Disney-owned sports behemoth secured its first TV rights deal in April.

Sources familiar with negotiations say ESPN has struck a deal for a second portion to the package currently held by Fox Sports that will bring the total cost in the neighborhood of $300 million per year for five years, totaling $1.5 billion. The new deals, which cover a total of 30 fights per year, kick in early 2019."

300mil a year for 5 years, he didn't clarify if that is in addition to the 150 mil per year for ESPN+ so 450 mil in total or 300 mil in total so 150 mil more for rest of the rights. My guess would be 450 mil total and its too late for me to call anyone to verify this so just wait for Logic to explain further.

Deal is for a total of 30 fight nights, ppv prelims, contender series, full library, etc...

Deal is worth around 300m/yr

which is a 2.5 times increase on their previous fox deal.

Nah, with Jones, Lesnar, and McGregor all coming back soon, things are about to look bright for the UFC again.

You also got some young stars that will develop really well with an organization like ESPN backing them. Sean O'Malley, Zabit, Tuivasa.

They just desperately need to cut the shit with all these interim belts fucking up all the continuity of the divisons.

If they keep putting out a shit product it doesn't matter if they are on every network 24/7.

UFC now has five years on the best platform to grow.
