Do you think Ariel Helwanis new job at ESPN coukd be under threat with the announcement theyve also made a deal with the UFC?

Dana and co really arent a fan of his and were the reason he lost his previous job at Fox sports.

I wonder if they got him signed now on purpose. He’s still the most well known MMA journalist and they got him signed before the deal got announced. Probably no chance of signing him once they were in bed with the UFC and now they have him signed and probably for less money then he would be now.

Be interesting to see how this pans out as you imagine ESPN plan on using him as one the faces of MMA for their broadcast team

Haha. If you don’t think Dana hold grudges, you know nothing about him. Just a week ago, he was badmouthing Ariel on an interview.

This makes no sense.  ESPN announced that they'd signed Ariel after they won the UFC's streaming rights the other week.

He was hired because ESPN knew they were getting exclusive rights to the ufc. He's the top journalist in mma so it makes sense for ESPN to sign him

ESPN will control Ariel the way they want. They simply hired him as a known face in the MMA community.

Lets just say Ariel isn't going to be "Arieling" anymore.

After they saw how giddy he was to accomplish his life dream of working for them, they gonna be holding him tight by the nut sack.

He’s not controversial in any way that ESPN disapproves of.

He’ll fit in fine and will be the same as he always is.

He's under threat because people are creatures of comfort/habit and they changed the platform for which his content was provided. It's tough to maintain interest through change. But he has a massive twitter following so should be fine.

You guys realize that ESPN hosts bitched about his crential removal before and got him back in the UFC. The second Dana says shit, every host on air will roast him. Not a single host on that network wants any sports franchise to dictate who has jobs as it would potentially jeopardize their jobs also. Dana don't want that PR nightmare.

The UFC going to ESPN was only confirmed a few days ago whilst Ariel going to ESPN was announced last week. How does it not make sense?

ESPN will have Ariel talking about racism and homophobia soon enough

I hope not but I wondered the same thing, maybe not though since he’s employed by them now as opposed to being brought in for a specific event.

Why wouldn't dana want him?  He can keep him under control somewhat under their umbrella .

Dana holds grudges but isnt stupid. Its a perfrct move to a new network.  Helwani is the GOAT of mma reporters.  He moves needles

I doubt Ariel changes he will break a story like the Brock Lesnar comeback then Dana will get pissed and ask ESPN to replace him.

What did he say

6:15. Dana just going off how Ariel is garbage, and he had no sources at the ufc and no one talks to him; which contradicts what Ariel said about confirming with his ufc sources before publishing stories.

If you think after this interview with Dana from last week, he’s over Ariel, this is definitely not the case; seems like he trashes Ariel any chance he gets and extremely passionate about his hate towards him.
