UnderGround Forums Joanna (ex) Champion now blames Doc for loss

"I know that in sports, I win and lose, and I know that my last fight did not go my way, because people from my team failed me. The doctor, who had a big impact on how I felt 30 hours before the fight, failed. People who are not in sports, in which you need to watch this weight, do not know what it’s eating. It often has negative effects on our health and even life. I am asking for patience, just like I have to wait for the day when I will receive a strawweight belt"

Talk about denial. If she believes she has no responsibility in the loss then I think the results will be the same the next time around.

How many times has she fought at 115 pounds? These excuses are reaching Brazilian levels.

IMO when I see stuff like this I find it hard to pick her to win the rematch.

She should be focusing on the actual mistakes that cost her the fight rather than pointing the finger.

But thats how people, who have been told their entire sporting lives, that they are the best, react to the bad times.

She doesn't know how to handle diveristy (in this case, losing). So she lashes out at everyone around her and points the finger at them.

Adversity is the word you were looking for, not diversity.

If she loses to Rose again I can see her using the weight excuse again and moving up to 125 and getting an immediate fight with Valentina. If she were to lose that it would make it 3 losses in a row.

IMO that is how the UFC kills careers. Instead of building up Rose against someone else to defend her title once and building Joanna back up on the same card they force these immediate rematches, which unfortunately kill the options for someone like Joanna if they lose twice in a row to the same Champion. Rematches should ONLY ever be made for a close fight. Not KO loss. Same with Cody. UFC wants to desperately make the fighters they want champions that they risk losing the appeal of those fighters once they lose twice in a short span. While at same time failing to build up those that actually won the title.

Whenever people talk about "building up" fighters its pretty much saying you think the ufc should try to set up mismatches and influence the outcome of fights so that a certain fighter wins.

This is more about the people she surrounds herself with. She must have a lot of yesmen that keep selling her the koolaid. You can go the GSP route which is the harder route (remove the comfort of these people, accept responsibility and the change required to evolve) or the Honda route (blame outside sources and refuse change as a solution)
