On the Joe Rogan Experience, Kevin Lee said he's 195 in the off season, and then if he's seriously training he walks around at 185 up until 6 weeks before his fight.

At 1 week out, he's 176 pounds.

CRAZY that he cuts from those weights to 155.

That sure isn’t sustainable for long term. Unless he gets his nutrition in line and starts maxing at say 180 or so he will be fighting at 170 within two years.

This sort of thing should really be more frowned upon. Amazing he can do it but cutting that much weight is like picking on people alot smaller than you. Guys a real beast though and has a hell of a skill set.

Meh. Not sure why anyone is surprised by this.

Shoot, I knew a handful of guys on the ammy circuit that cut from 190 to make 55. And they weren’t even getting paid.

Crazy because he doesn’t even look big for the division.

Well that obviously doesn’t work, as he missed weight. And hasn’t he missed before?  He’s gonna fuck around and ruin a title shot because he wants to be 195 out of camp

I remember about 6-8 years ago I think it was Gray Maynard who said he used to get up to 200 between fights.... crazy to think he is making 145 now.

He’s never missed until now, I think he’ll be fine at 55. He missed this time, but I don’t think he will again. The guy seems much smarter than I assumed, more fighters should do these long free form interviews. I’m a much bigger Kevin Lee fan after listening to him really have a conversation

SHOGUN250: Maynard and Benson were the two guys who came to mind when this thread was made.

bjtrashman: I tend to agree. The guy has never missed until this point, including for a championship weight fight. He just needs to make a couple adjustments.

Reminds me of Anthony Johnson. He will have to go up weight before long.

all 155'ers walk around between 185, 205 except the ones that are too small for the division

all the more reason FRANKIE EDGAR is one of the true p4p GOATS in mma

frankie walks around in the low 160s "off season" and when training

he basically didnt cut any weight during his 155 career and won the belt/defended against way bigger dudes

gray maynard was walking around close to 200 at that time

aldo walks around in the 170s

bendo walks around in the ,low 180s back then

sean sherk, etc.

frankie has always been smaller than all of his oopponents

The only reason 165 doesnt exists already is because Dana White has nostalgia over 170.

We just saw that the 145lb champ walks around 180+ and Eddie Alverez over 195...

And Lee said in an interview awhile back that he said Alverez saw him and said "damn you look like a 205er" So Lee could be low balling his own numbers too.

This...prob shouldn't be bragging about how much you cut when you miss weight.

I've also read (if not mistaken) that both Khabib and Ferguson walk around in the 200 LB range.

Basically, the three best LW's are huge for the division.

people would shit on GSP all the time and he usually walked around at 185 out of competition, to fight at 170. He was actually smaller than alot of current lightweights

Crazy shit. Makes you wonder who would be the champs at what divisions if people fought at their walking weight.

There is a reason most of these guys need 8 weeks for a fight camp and most of it isn't spent on technique.
