Such a shame when people only take fights for money disregarding their health because they can’t/wont do anything else.

Why does the governing bodies still clear him to fight?

There must be two Maurice Jacksons.  The one I know is like 6'9" and usually has to fight at SHW because he can't make 265 most of the time.

My favorite guillard fight was vs. shane roller.

he had such great movement, baffled roller and before you know it guillard knocked him the fuck out.

then in like guillards very next fight he fought like an idiot.

frustrating fighter to watch/root for.

I can smell the brain damage from here. Hate seeing the man getting KO'd so frequently, he used to be one of the most exciting guys to watch

He’s fighting at mw?? Well, that’s part of the problem. He wasn’t even a big lw.

I think a few years ago he was part-time at The Buckle in Houston's Galleria Mall. He's got career options available.

Isn’t cocaine supposed to make it easy to cut weight?

Jokes aside, I’ve always loved watching Melvin fight. He’s been stupidly fighting at middleweight often. He fought Israel “Stylebender” Adesanya a while back.

Didn’t he have something like 40 unsanctioned fights in New Orleans before officially turning pro?

I used to bet all of his UFC fights. If the other guy had high level BJJ Melvin would lose, if the other guy didn’t, Melvin would win

There wasn't any aspect of MMA where Melvin was better than Rich Clementi. Rich beat him in kickboxing, MMA, and would have tooled him in any wrestling or grappling competition.

Melvin was always runner-up.

I made so much money on that UFC fight. I am rarely 100% sure of against the grain underdogs: Tito against Bader, Coleman against Bonnar, and Clementi against Melvin

I went back and watched his fight against Nate Diaz not long ago.. it was like a compressed version of the McGregor fights in that he dropped Nate at least once but Nate eventually started tagging him (I think) and submitted him.

I'm trying to remember if that was before or after No Love beat fucking ANTHONY JOHNSON at a catchweight?

Also, other than Clementi/Melvin, my only other "I'm about to get paid!" large underdog bet, where I felt almost certain in advance, was Werdum/Fedor. All the signs were there, but no one was paying attention.

Yup,sad to see,He was close to a shot prior to the Lauzon fight where he threw unnecessary flying knees and tossed out his gameplan.Had he strengthened his ground game and defense who knows,I liked him as a fighter and I was the minority as alot of fans couldn't stand GUillard.Wish him the best.Have him train somewhere like kings somewhere where they won't take his shit,he can get into bellator ormone, hell if julian lane canget on tuf redemption GUillard should get a shot on TUF redemption if they do it soon
