RITC 166: Online PPV tonight (8:00 PM ET)

One of the longest running MMA promotions in the business, Arizona’s Rage in the Cage is heading to Pay Per View.  Rage in the Cage 166 airs this Saturday, June 22nd and features 16 bouts headlined by a Main Event clash between Rage in the Cage Heavyweight Champion Dan Charles taking on StrikeForce veteran Adam Smith. Rage in the Cage promoter Roland Sarria has promoted over 500 MMA events and over 15 years as Rage in the Cage. Rage In The Cage 166 will be the first time the promotion has ever featured a PPV event.

While Rage in the Cage has become a staple in the Arizona MMA community it may not be as well-known outside the region but many of its fighters have become superstars among the top organizations in the sport. Fighters like UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz, UFC Flyweight Number 1 Contender John Moraga, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez, The Ultimate Fighter 8 Winner Efrain Escudero, The Ultimer Fighter 17 Winner Kelvin Gastelum as well as Jamie Varner, Joe Riggs, Seth Baczynski, Tim Credeur, Drew Fickett, Keith Jardine, Kyle Kingsbury, Dan Lauzon and George Roop all fought for Rage in the Cage at some point in their early MMA careers. Rage in the Cage has been promoting events for over 15 years .

Saturday’s Rage in the Cage 166 taking place at Wild Horse Pass Casino features three championship bouts amongst the 16 bout fight card and airs live via online PPV on Go Fight Live.

Doors open at 7:00 PM, the first bout of the evening begins at 8:00 PM. Tickets are available at http://wingilariver.ticketforce.com/ or call 1-877-840-0457. The online PPV can be purchased at http://www.gfl.tv/Events/Fight/MMA/Rage_in_the_Cage_166/2004.

Fighters from around the state of Arizonia and fighters from Ohio, Hawaii, New Mexico and California will showcase their skills in Rage in the Cage 166.

Rage in the Cage and UFC Veteran John Moraga will be on hand signing autographs and meeting fans before he competes for the UFC Flyweight Championship!

The Co-Main Event pits two top Arizona Middleweights fighting for the vacant Rage in the Cage Championship when Daniel Madrid ( 6-4 ), currently training in Thailand who has fought in Russia and in China as well, faces Jacob Chagolla ( 7-2 ).

In the third featured Championship bout, two top Arizona Welterweights will compete for the vacant Rage in the Cage Championship when Zack Surdyka ( 5-1 ), who trains at ACS, faces formidable opponent Preston Harris ( 6-1 ).

Was there a reason given? how did you have that feeling he would flake? For all we know RITC could've known a while ago......did he weigh in?

Just a gut instinct, Madrids a tough dude. And when you're good it's hard to find opponents. Phone Post 3.0

lets get dangerous - did you enjoy the show at the venue ?

The Craver - "no one said anything until after the show started".

During the fighter introductions, approximately 15 minutes into the show it was announced that Madrid's opponent was a no show. Not sure how it could have been announced any sooner.

The Raider - "Sounds like an 8 hour card. 15 fights with 3 title fights".

Ended up with 11 fights lasting 3 1/2 hours with two title fights.

Bottoms up - "Was there a reason given? how did you have that feeling he would flake? For all we know RITC could've known a while ago......did he weigh in?"

RITC does same day weigh-ins at 5PM. Jacob Chagolla did not show up for the weigh-ins. I assure you I had no prior knowledge of this no show and I would NEVER post any match up that I knew would NOT take place. I went out of my way to post a current update yesterday when I saw an earlier line-up posted by GFL. I've made over 5000 posts on the UG and ALL my posts are current, accurate and complete at the time I make them.

bottoms up - "i saw 8 maybe 9 reported fights...what happened to that list?"

There were 11 fights not 8 or 9. There were changes due to 3 no shows ( 2 amateurs, 1 pro ), 1 missing medicals ( amateur ) and 1 fighter ( amateur ) just plain "disappearing".

Update - turns out that Jacob Chagolla did send me an e-mail around noon yesterday AFTER I had already left for the venue with no computer access.

"Was in the er last night i have upper respitory infection i thought id have enough strength to still fight but can barely breath and still got to cut weight. Im so fucking sorry. But i just dnt want to be a stepping stone for dqniel madrid so i must pullout and lord willing we can do this again."
