KK on Cannabis

"The primary reason was that even though there is no magic number for getting to where we want to go with the detection level, by making it more akin to the other drugs of abuse that are tested only in-competition, the 150 seemed to play into that.  With the idea that no number is perfect, 150 is one that if you stop a week out or so, the odds of you being 150 at competition time are almost nil.  The concern, of course, is that people are going to think, “They tripled the number.  I can smoke the day of the weigh-in.  I used to stop ten days before.  Now I’ll stop ten hours before.”  Unfortunately, it would be counterproductive in that situation.  I hope that athletes don’t use it as a justification not to do the right thing.  I think the bottom line is if you are below 150, the concern of it either giving you any benefit or, more importantly, it putting you at a detriment, is pretty much zero."

Funny how when someone becomes embattled an interview follows shortly, otherwise they are too cocky to bother answering to the fans.

We agreed to the interview before mayweather-alvarez for what it's worth. I don't think there is a time that Kizer hasn't been embattled. Phone Post

That was an enormously informative interview, and I am honored to have it posted on the UG.

For reasons I cannot explain, interviews are often looked and judged by the degree to which they are combative. Implicit in that point of view is that the subject of the interview is an adversary.

Keith Kizer is the most influential regulator in North America. That interview was a terrific window into his decision making.

For example, the story of how levels were set historically and going forward for acceptable levels of marijauna metabolites I don't believe had ever been told before, was very insighful.

Next interview I will demand that Jack ask the subject - right off the bat - "why do you hate America?" ;-)

Thanks, Kirik. Even if it was just you and a few others that enjoyed it, that would be cool with me. Phone Post

I'm definitely not doing Ariel's job. I'm not doing any job. I think, at this point, I'm a bit of a historian. Phone Post

He sounds like a professional. His job isn't to appease us or lay on his sword. That would be incredibly stupid and naive of him to do so.

Not one of us is willing to go on the record and tell people every mistake we've made in our line of work - then release it to millions of people.

He wasn't asked certain questions, so he didn't answer them. It was a great first interview and probably the sign that he wants to do more. Jack Brown did the right thing by not scaring him away on the first interview.

We should also recognize the potential for greater dialogue and information here and be thankful that someone is getting us there, bit by bit.

I think the promoters, fans, fighters, etc. need to have refs, judges, and Kizer to blame as well as to stop things from going too far. It creates controversy and conflict and a common enemy. But it also sets some boundaries and limits. It's kind of like teenagers and their parents.

In essence, Kizer is Dad. Phone Post

Wow. Nice way of putting it.

We did speak for another thirty minutes off the record after the interview, and I don't think Kizer would mind answering "tougher" questions. My first ten were of a broader scope, but sure, I asked him about BJM. He doesn't seem to be holding too much back. Then again I like every person I've interviewed. Phone Post
