Lost 4 out of her last 7 fights.

Why was this woman fighting Michelle Waterson for a belt? Anyone else find this to be appalling matchmaking?

time traveling 12er - Apparently the top contender turned the fight down. Not much you can do with a limited talent pool made more limited by fighters not wanting to fight.

That is unfortunate, but still not an excuse for such a terrible mismatch.

Shannon Knapp and Julie Kedzie lied through their teeth when they tried to claim they didn't know how old Tamada was. I would say they should be ashamed of themselves but it's clear they have no shame.

Tamada's management is even worse for allowing her to take the fight.

47? that's fucking crazy. for small weight fighters they start going down hill after mid 30's.

How is it not an valid reason? It's not like they're the UFC with a huge talent pool. They also can't force fighters to fight. Maybe she was the only fighter in that weightclass that could make the fight? People seem to be under the impression that matchmaking is just picking two names who would make a good fight.

By valid, do you mean without any ethical standard?

Matchmaking should mean putting fighters together that are at least a somewhat fair match. That doesn't include matching up a 28 year old champion against a 47 year old who has lost 4 out of her last 7. That's pretty sick logic.

How about the fact that Invicta blatantly lied about knowing Tamada's age. If the commission knew her age you better believe Invicta knew her age.

But ultimatley all they wanted was to make Waterson a star.

This was a Pride-style mismatch meant to showcase the champ imo.

yup, they're legit. For the Tamada-Waterson fight they replaced the age column with reach.

Lol, that is some shady shit. Still they are adults and we had no problem with lyoto randy, but no one hid Randy's age

Plus are you really comparing Randy to Yasuko?

I remember an old UFC Japan when I think Jeff Blatnick commented that they didn't know the age of the Japanese fighter but it was just their culture to be secretive about it. Just a thought.

That doesn't excuse this mismatch though. It was a great card otherwise, but the main event was hard to watch. Phone Post 3.0

oh wow, they did not show her age! It's on sherdog, though.

Tamada was on a winning streak. But she was just so much smaller. :/
