Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal def. Seth Petruzelli

King Mo wasn't playing around at Bellator 96, hurting Petruzelli early in the fight, almost forcing a stoppage. Unfortunately for him, referee John McCarthy reset the fight because of a phantom blow to the eye, giving Petruzelli a second chance. That didn't seem to affect Lawal's focus though.

King Mo swiftly took Petruzelli down after the reset, subsequently knocking "The Silverback" out cold with a vicious right from guard 95 seconds into round one. With the win, Mo will meet Jacob Noe in the finals of the light-heavyweight tournament.

Jacob Noe def. Renato Sobral

Noe got the better of the striking exchanges during the first round, but Sobral mounted a comeback of sorts in the second round. Unfortunately for "Babalu," Noe hurt him late in the second round, and the Brazilian didn't seem fully recovered going into the third. Noe continued with his assault, wobbling Renato a few times until referee Kerry Hatley stepped in and saved him at 3:32 of round three.

Vitaly Minakov def. Ron Sparks

Vitaly went right to work at Bellator 96, dropping Sparks with a big right hand. The Russian followed up with some ground-n-pound, forcing the stoppage 32 seconds into the contest.

War Machine def. Blas Avena

Avena got off to a solid start at Bellator 96, but War Machine found his groove as the fight progressed. After completing a trip midway through the first round, War Machine transitioned to a crucifix. He relentlessly pounded away at Avena's face until referee Kerry Hatley stepped in and stopped the contest at 3:55 of round one.

Undercard:

Chas Skelly def. Jarrod Card (unanimous decision)
Keith Berry def. Cortez Coleman (split decision)
Mike Maldonado def. Chavous Smith (rear-naked choke, round one)
Damon Jackson def. Keith Miner (TKO, round one)
Ryan Martinez def. Rich Hale (KO, round one)
Raphael Butler def. Jeremiah O'Neal (KO, round one)
Brandon Halsey def. Joe Yager (split decision)
Derek Campos def. Brandon Girtz (unanimous decision)
Justin McNally def. Steven Artoff (inverted triangle/armbar, round one)

I had the Tivo set ahead of time and was glad I did.  It was a decent show.  I think most of the Bellator events have pretty exciting figts

I saw it but I think it wasn't as promoted as their normal seasons (could just be me and the channels and stuff I've been on). The only reason I knew about it was being online, in the forums and also because of some interviews on MMA Junkie.

A big MMA moment was seeing Babalu retire, in the cage. The way he did it: saying a prayer, leaving his gloves in the center of the cage and then walking away. Got kind of dusty in my house.

Their big launch was that card?

Do they not want people to care?

I don't get Bellator.

There was a summer turny i thought?

Why didnt they lock anyone up who isn't over the hill or a total cast off. I'm mostly annoyed because i was driving the Bella Bus when they moved to spike, but so far it's been an abortion.

weren't they signing Barnett? They he signed with the UFC. They just fail at every turn.

i dont even know if we are in the same state.

why is it so hard to believe people could just be big fans of bellator? it is somehow more likely that bellator paid people to post here than it is that there are a few people who love free tournament-style MMA events??
