Just re-watched the fight and his faced was screwed up. I'm truly surprised it wasn't stopped. What are your thoughts UG?

It wasn't stopped because he was cleared to continue by a Dr.

He said he could see okay, and that he wanted to continue.

Yeah not sure what the point of the question is.
Dr could not diagnose the extent of the injury while in the ring, kos said he could see and wanted to continue. Seems pretty straight forward Phone Post

Could have easily been stopped at any point, just depends on the cageside doctor and ref that night

Many fights have been stopped after an eye closes

Ya I just wouldn't think hearing from a fighter whose taking a lot of punishment that they want to fight would be convincing enough. Like Fabio vs Glover.

If it was completely closed the Dr. would have stopped it. Kos said he could see and the Dr. did not see a fully closed eye.

The doctor should have stopped it. And the fact that it wasn't is borderline criminal by the doc. Phone Post

You're saying that the Dr. should have some how been able to X-ray Koscheck's eye socket area in the cage???

NotImpressedByYourScreenName - His eye was as bad as Fedor's against Bigfoot so could easily have been stopped IMO. But it was a title fight so I think thru give the fighter every chance Phone Post
I'm guessing that dropping bombs while sitting on Fedor's chest made the Dr more skittish than GSP jabbing away...

No I am saying you have to be an idiot to let a guy continue to fight when his eye is swollen to the point you can't see any part of his eyeball regardless of what the fighter wants. The doc is there for safety nothing else. Letting that fight go was unsafe. Phone Post

I don't think they stop the fights for the injury, it's if they can see out of the eye. Phone Post

Yeah but I wish he would have tried to wrestle, he had a decent chance that way. Took GSP down end of the first round, didn't try again till the fifth Phone Post
