^^^ Hey, just thought I would let you know that there are some of us who look at it rationally. I bet many of those idiots, if they sat down and thought about it before they posted, would be on the same exact page as I am. Hiding behind a keyboard frees them up to take it to an irrational and shitty level. :)
I knew that your OP was not aimed at a poster like myself. Suess and I have gone back and forth on "size" many many times so I thought I would just throw my thoughts out there for everyone in this thread to see, wondering if it made sense. Jones is a beast, and haters gonna hate. I would really like to see him move up to HW, but in the age of weight cutting I cannot blame him for fighting at LHW as long as his body allows it.

I just dont see why it should be held against him in any discussions. His size has a tradeoff in that he has chicken legs. He knows how to keep that from being a problem.

I feel like people place too much emphasis on his reach, as much as it helps with the stand up it can be a real pain in the ass to avoid submissions. Long limbs are vulnerable to arm bars and other submissions and long necks are easier to choke, there is just more of a sweet spot where the sub would be effective than say a guy like Rashad where the is no wiggle room and needs to be perfect technique to work. IF Jones loses, it will probably be via submission. |

theshooter - Part of the thing with Jon Jones' reach is that he fights at 205 lbs. when he could easily fight as a heavyweight. The guys at heavyweight are obviously bigger so his reach advantage if the heavyweight division would be less of a factor than it is at 205 lbs.A lot of fighters could easily fight above their weight class. Aka Anderson Silva who can and has easily beat his opponents at light heavy weight. Can anyone post Anderson's reach vs his opponents at middle weight? I'm curious to see if he has had the advantage in his fights?

orcus - Yeah but The Reem was cutting way to much to make LHW, his natural weight is 260. Plus he must have been literally starving himself to stop his body from bulking up. The Reem at his true weight is way to much for JBJ. |

At LHW he was skinny as hell and smaller than Jones, you posted he's naturally 240 LMFAO. Oh and reem has given up a shit ton of hand speed and cardio for that bulk. He's also got maybe not a weak chin but its definitely touchable. So yeah I actually do think Jones would sock him up.

As a striker when u have 4 inches of reach And know how to use it its a big advantage. Having reach advantage jones dones for a good striker is just a HUGE Advantage. To hit somoeone at end of your shots And have 8-9 inches of space where he cant hit you means u can remain at a distance And safely smash Jones is good all around And smart BUT his reach is biggest weapon he has I See it from striking for 25 years how key distance is while standing A few inches matters when its nearly a foot on some opponets thats Like fighting you Lil brother And stifff arming his forehead while he swings at air.

His striking is secondary and you seem to have a lack of respect for his athleticism, his reach only matters because he has the skill to use it. |

That's an average of 75.43" for his last 7 opponents. Just over a 2" advantage.
Jon Jones reach is 84.5" Belfort 74" Rashad 75" Shogun 76" Machida 74" Rampage 73" Bader 74" Matyushenko 74" Bonnar (throwing him in even though it was long ago to not be biased) 80" That averages to exactly 75" for his opponent.
9.5" average advantage for Bones. 2.07" for Anderson.

I personally have never seen an exact average of both Jones and another dominant champion broken down like that....so not sure your "same ol shit being spewed" applies. To boot, JayRob clearly asked for someone to do that break down for him. I apologize for doing what a poster asked to be done...lol. |
