GrotesK - Regardless of the outcome, the correct answer is indeed Sir Donald Bradman.Or Sachin Tendulkar for that matter

GelderdEnd -fta___ -Really? Well where is Phil Taylor in the poll then? He has won 16 world titles in darts, that's a minority sport, he should be in!GelderdEnd - LOL at Gretzky winning it in a sport that's only played on a world class level in the US....Pele is way ahead of him just due to the size of the talent pool....Messi should also be on that list ahead of most Not sure what your deal is with hockey, but it is a very widespread international and athletic sport that is very popular. It has been in the Olympics for almost 100 years. In the NHL there is a comparable amount of athletes as most other popular sports leagues and the average pay is comparable to the top sports leagues, meaning it must be popular enough to pay those athletes and to support the international competitions. |

If Bo had a long career he would probably be the biggest name on the list. As it stands, he's probably the best athlete. However these things are just glorified popularity contests and Jordan should take it. (Even though I think he would deserve it because he's up there.)

sports is all about who's the toughest anyway, if you boil it all down, its about who'd win in a fight right? if you boil being the best in sports down, as a man, it all comes down to who would win in a straight up fight. so clearly the winner should be federer. ..sorry that was stupid. |

Jordan...nobody cares about hockey and black people don't even play it...Basketball is a sport played in every high school in the country...it is one of the big 3 sports and Jordan was by far the greatest. |

Root12 - No Alexander Karelin? Poll has no merit without him... THIS! Guy didn't give up a point for 6 years or lose for 13 against world class competition. |

I thought the general consensus was that GSP was the most athletic guy in the sport. Fucking ESPN.

How soon people forget the way Fedor utterly dominated the world of MMA. While I'm fairly certain that Fedor is the undisputed, greatest MMA fighter in history, I personally believe that Royce Gracie is the most important fighter in history, with Kaz Sakuraba somewhere in the top 5 (being the man who dispelled the myth of Gracie Jits and revolutionized the way we fight. |

sunnyko -Seriously, how is it even a debate as to who is a Greatest of all Time in their sport? He maxed at coaching and performing in the sport.

mijo -Cletus Redpecker III - Jordan seems to be getting a lot of support, but I assume many don't remember his short stint at trying to play baseball. But only one did it well. Four more years with a good hip and Bo would have been king of the world. And professional hockey players, as a whole, are some of the best athletes in the world. |

Skip2MyLou - And if this was based on international voting, I'd say Pele would win. Being the most dominant at the most international sport would give him recognition. (Although one can argue messi may soon surpass him or already have). Maradonna already did imo! |

jokey17 - Hockey is a fringe sport which is why Gretzky is not the best. All North American sports are basically fringe sports. The only one that is even remotely close to Global is basketball. In fact, I think if someone ran the numbers the global player base hockey would for sure be higher than football AND baseball. |

UGCKIRTT_SonofJockstrap - I agree, Gretzky was so far above and beyond anyone in the game, before or since. Bo was the best running back in football and one of baseball's best players, at the same time. Either one would be deserving. |
