When i was about 10 years old, i caught a 220 lbs (estimated) german tourist standing behind me when i released the line on the backswing. He was surprised and swore a lot (i think) but i reeled him in and let him go. |

jkkazmier - No shit? We lived at Fort Adams and in Newport we bought our gear at some mom and pop place. Their son ran it, his name was Durant IIRC, looked kinda like Jim Morrison. We weighed the fish there, I got my pic on his wall. Damn I wish I knew the name of the place. 1985. |

I haven't been fishing very long so I'm happy that tonight my new largest catch was a 29 inch long channel cat. Caught on a Carolina rig with chicken liver. First fish I've caught that put up any kind of fight. |

Fished the surf yesterday with the long rod. First cast, I caught two 20" redfish. Second cast, another. After that, not a bite all day. Good times. |

gnpsince1990 - Freshwater, a 20 lb Musky in Minnesota. You are right on the AJ. We call them rig donkeys. When you hook one, it feels like you have hooked a mule. |

I haven't fished heavily, brook trout mostly in small brooks. But, I just inherited a ton of fishing equipment from my grandfather who passed a little over a month ago, a graphite fly rod (which I guess is really nice?), a bunch of flies, a nice casting rod, and some lures. So I hope to get out and have some fun. |

Nice hammerhandle TJ. This is what a real Northern Pike looks like ;) Got this in Sept about four hours north of Thunder Bay Ontario up in Canuckistan. Hooked into 3 of these monsters - If I had to guess, this guy was just over 20 lbs. We dont use nets or gaffes or anything (we're men). Its an unnerving thing, gilling a monster like this when its in the water and you have several drinks and other things in your system... ![]() Also caught a ton of walleye (crazy, the water up there is black - your boat wake looks like crude oil). Walleye that I usually see in Southern Ont lakes are green/yellow. Up here they were orange and blue. Amazing. Also jigged for 15 lbs Lakers. Great lakes. |

Here is what it looks like when they surface and their wide backs pop up to the surface and scare the bjesus out of you:![]() And when you have to do surgery to get the spoon out. You can see rows of teeth in the roof of the mouth. These fish are nasty and you have to be careful. This particular pic was of a smaller pike. ![]() |

how did you do BigEye? I personally can't wait for ice out. I have my first bass tourney on 3/27 but I am guessing it will be canceled because the lake will still be frozen. I pray that isn't the case:) |

Well we caught a lot of perch and Herring. Some big herring, but no pickerel or pike this year, so that was very disappointing. We were hauling in around 20 fish a day each, just the wrong type. Perchy were tasty tho... |
