I didn't know how to post pictures from a recent shark fishing trip so I posted a link to a forum where one of the guys with me put the pictures. Here is a brief summary. We were about 100 miles offshore when a 10+ ft Mako shark surfaced behind the boat. He hooked it up and chased it for about 2 hours. During that time it jumped 6 times out of the water before it busted the line. We happened to have a guy with us that did professional photography that captured a few of the jumps. We knew the fish was going to jump after the first two jumps because it would start peeling out line prior to the jump. Needless to say, it was a once in a lifetime experience. Anyone, maybe someone can post the pictures on this thread or create a link for me. Unfortunately, I am technology challenged :) http://outdoorsbest.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=510401 Gordon Hester |

Thanks for the help. I agree with you naming of the link :) I'll try to do better in the future. I have probably been here since early 2001 and have never posted a link or picture. I was going to have my friend Koma post the pictures but I took the path of least resistance. Anyway, thanks for your help. |

ELBOW2HEAD, I tried to post the last picture that was zoomed in of the shark about 20 feet out of the water and totally inverted but it didn't work for me. That was the best picture and the one where the shark busted the line. Can you post that picture for me? Gordon |

Hi Nelson. I have been back for about a month but don't post much these days. This is actually the first thread I have made since I started posting again. I thought the pictures were phenomenal which is why I wanted to share them with everyone. I am getting an 8X10 of the last picture of the shark totally inverted for my office. How is life treating you these days? |

I don't know how to post the URL but it is the pictures in the first post by Reel Grime. They are the first picture where someone zoomed in on the fish. Thanks for the help. |

Nice pics and looks like a fun time Gordon. Doing very well. Very busy and not much time here in the past few weeks myself. Got a promotion recently so time has been scarce. It's always good seeing you around. Obviously, you are doing well. Stay in touch my friend. =) I'm off to work in a few... |

Nelson, Fishing is the only place in my life where I can get away and relax these days. Needless to say, this was a real fun trip. For me, life is busy, the family is awesome, and business is booming. I am glad to hear life is treating you well these days. Have a great day at work. |

Thanks for posting the pictures. It was kind of sad that Josh (the guy who had the fish on the line) had to endure people on that thead saying he made up the photos. The guy fought that fish for about two hours and we chased it over 3 miles. It seems like there is always got to be someone critic trying to ruin someone's experience :( The second page of the thread included a post from the guy who was with us that actually took the pictures. Anyway, it was an awesome trip and I will probably never see a shark that big again, especially one that jumps that far out of the water. |

I never knew a shark that big could get 20-30 ft out of the water. Keep in mind the picture of the shark inverted and about 15 feet over the water is when the shark was on its way down. It didn't come out of the water fully inverted but instead ended up that way on its way back down. It appears some magazine had approached the photographer about buying the picture. Go figure. I pay for the entire trip and someone else gets the payday :) BTW, I paid for the trip for a fellow BJJ guy and friend, Steve Hall. It was his 30th birthday gift. Steve is fighting in the Superfight this weekend at NAGA in Ohio. |

Man - that's awesome. I used to be into sharks when I was a kid and I read about how sports fishermen liked Mako's because of the way they fought. Reading about it is one thing and seeing photos is another. |

What're you doing hooking a dolphin with your fishing line? You should have let it go and let it come up to you and pet it. Good dolphin. |

I can see someone mistaking this as a catfish but not a dolfin :) The funny part of the story that Josh didn't tell was that when that fish got hooked up, everyone just looked at each other. There was no fighting chair or fighting belt that worked properly. Therefore, no one wanted to fight this fish. Josh's hands wore tore up for days. Keep in mind he was fighting that fish on 30lb test. |
