yes baroque.... i want to go back to the novice divisions in Judo...lol the people that say judo is easier, it's easy to get a BB in Judo are idiots. BJJ schools have different standards, so do different Judo Dojo's. Hell, I'd be a BB if I stayed at a particular school...........

I see where you are coming from ChicagoNoGi. I respect your opinion. I just think that the level of hatred towards the 10th Planet philosophy overall is a bit over the top. Although I rep 10th Planet in Montreal, I hug nobody's nuts. I take the techniques as I see them. For me, they add to my game. The more I delve into the techniques, the more value I see in them. Personally, I don't use vocabulary like "revolution", "gi is useless", etc. For me, the best thing about 10th Planet techniques is that it gives me a lot more tools to play a really tight guard, where my opponent's posture is completely broken down. A loose guard can be cool too, but translating that sort of control to MMA is problematic. That's just my opinion.

You don't think the vocabulary used in a lot of the 10th Planet JJ description, "revolution", "gi is useless", etc. is over the top? What people throw back is generally what's been put in front of them.

Eddie is my friend and I've trained with him at JJ's, BombSquad and Legends. I like Eddie and I know he's just a supremely confident guy and he's got every right to be. However, the more outrageous your claims the more people want you to fail. That's human nature. In none of my posts have I bagged on 10th Planet but I will never say rubberguard, lockdown, etc etc.. is an end all be all to bjj. I think it's great tools for you to add to your skills - nothing more nothing less.

jw234 - I think I like Brandon Quick. +1 Not a fan of the whole 10th Planet fad, but Quick seems to be a cool cat. He's apparently doing a seminar near here. If it was at a different school, I'd probably go.

I'm not going to lie. It did bring a smile to my face when I read that a brown belt 10th planet revolutionary tapped to a lesser ranked gi practioner the week he goes on a thread asking what everyones belt is. Where I come from we have a saying. Don't start no shit, won't be no shit. But at the end of the day, most of us here are competitors (at this point I can tell the ones who aren't) Mocking a dude for loosing is kicking a man when he is down. Who knows, maybe BQ had a bad day. Maybe he was drained. Maybe the Purple is overdue for a promotion. Bad match up. ETC. Who knows. I think people who run their own gyms deserve the most props for competing because they have a lot to lose and nothing to really gain. The last thing we want is for people like Brandon Quick to start treating competitions the same way his instructor does. My random thoughts.

Let me get this straight. Brandon Quick markets all these rubber guard oriented strategies and techniques yet goes straight for leg locks in every single one of his matches? lol! Sounds like a typical late 90's no-gi "submission wrestler" that wrecks novice divisions but gets routinely stomped by gi blues and purples.

Wow, so many assumptions!!! everyday starts with upas, shrimps and basics at my school. you guys get over board with your hate. in no way does any of your generalized statement have any validity. now you are just talking smack JUST to talk smack. no one said anything about Marcelo or Fabio etc...let me understand your total double standards. You can comment on the System but we cant say anything?? yeah right man, listen to yourself, step out side the box. Basics?? who's basics i ask? does Hyastan, Sambo, Catch, Sub Wrestling etc all have the same basics? no.do they all start the same? no. do they have a common goal? yes. do you attend our schools? do you know what is taught daily? i think not. is your opinion based off of the youtubes of random people? I can understand that somewhat but just like I have NO clue what you do at your school I can not make assumptions about you without sounding like a gossiper. its really not logical for you guys to talk smack about us personally, the System or our comerades and then tell us we shouldnt speak. especially when you make public statements on a public forum. what do you expect? my DVDs? come on man. you obviously havent seen them! you are just reaching in the dark cause you are upset. There has been nothing but positive feedback on them by ALL walks of grapplers. gi, nogi, mma, sub grapplers etc... if YOU havent seen them then you are just aimlessly complaining and using the excuse that I am a brown belt and made a video. i can assure you that you would learn something from them:)

Brandon Quick - Brandon please remeber that forums are where people say things that they would never say in person, and most members pride themselves on just purely getting a rise our of someone. My best advise to you is to ignore this thread, move on and keep doing things the same way you did before you read any of this.
