yes its a great time wife, son and i went while wife was midway pregnant with #2 stayed in sonora both nights there is a cool old west / mining town called Columbia State Historical Park in Yosemite itself, we only went to the main touristy area ... but that was still cool. the main open plains at the bottom of Yosemite was very cool. Tolumne Meadows, maybe? We left Yosemite on 41 heading south ... thru Fish Camp. Along there we came to this huge old hotel, which is full of great black and white pictures from way back in the day ... like when Mark Twain was in the Sierras (Yosemite and Tahoe areas) and like that. Restaurant there was pricey. We didn't eat there. Also to note, a great little small town nearby is Twaine Harte. Near that is Moaning Cavern http://www.caverntours.com/MoCavRt.htm ... we've done that one and it was very cool |

It's very crowded now, sadly. Spent a lot of time there as a kid. It's as beautiful as anywhere on the planet, imo. Stay on marked trails and all that. "Along there we came to this huge old hotel, which is full of great black and white pictures from way back in the day" I think that's the Ahwanee. Very cool place, worth a look. The restaurant is pricey but good (well, it was 10 or so years ago). |

I live very close to it. It's beautiful, but very very crowded in the summer. Take a camera. A good little hike is to the top of Sentinel Dome. Much easier than Half Dome, and great views. Further up that road is Glacier Point, which is a little outcropping that lets you look straight down 2000 feet into the Valley. |

I was there this past May. Mariposa Grove is a must see. Half Dome hike was the highlight of my trip but may be too much for a 10 year old. Yosemite Falls is a great hike also |

You'll have a great time. Its an incredible place. Take pic's and post'em when you get back. Good call staying at the Ahwanee. We stayed outside the park (tenaya lodge) and the drive in got real old fast. I'll be going back. |

Lower Yosemite falls is a fairly easy hike, I did it at 9 or 10. The full hike is a lot longer. |

Went there once with my wife. It was beautiful -- really a great place. The only downside was that I had bashed the top of my foot up a few weeks prior to the trip. I couldn't wear anything but loose sandals, so I ditched the sandals and hiked halfway to half dome in bare feet. It hurt a lot less than I thought it would, but some of those rocks were bitches. |

Proposed to my wife there, it's beautiful. I'm only an hr away and I can't believe how many people who live in Fresno have never been... |
