the tea party. = Rich people who want to stay rich, and poor people who do not realize they are poor. That is the worst part of them. Think the construction worker type who thinks if just, if just the government did not take all of my money and give it to the blacks, I would be playing pebble beach with donald trump. There are some middle class conservatives that just don't like minorities or poor people. A lot of the military falls into this category. Also, they are just used to being abused by authority, so it seems natural to them. That is the best part of them. |

How about those of us who believe in limited government, reduced government spending, reduced entitlements, and all the constitution including the 2A? Granted the repubs aren't for all those things but they are closer than the dems.

Daniel Carver - What is wrong with me wanting to keep what I earn? I do enough for the poor as it is. Nothing, but you like safe streets to drive on, you like the fire department or ems or the police responding if you dial 911 and you like public education. That stuff is not free. If you don't like paying taxes you could simply leave the USA. However, you won't, because you know however much you bitch, we have lower taxes than most of the first world. You could practice medicine in Somalia, no taxes there. |

More of us wouldn't mind paying taxes if the government didn't blow our money on stupid shit and give it to those who don't contribute.

If we relegated taxes to fund only enough government to do what is provided for in the constitution; we would be FAR better off. Too many people want to depend on the government to give them things. |

It is really interesting to read how the Republican party started out, compared to what it has become. Did anyone know that Lincoln actually jumped parties because the Republicans didn't have a candidate for presidency at the time. In the beginning, the Jacksonian Democrats were the racists who kept slavery going. |

Wow, you are quite the scholar, can you tell me how the states lost their rights? Which party consolidated power to the federal government? Have you ever heard of a little thing called the Civil War? I know which type of republican you are. |

You forgot one very important component of today's GOP base: evangelical Christians who think science is the devil's way of making kids lose faith in Jesus, and whose major foreign policy objective is a nuclear apocalypse. That such people are a key political faction in a nuclear superpower is simply a nightmare. |
