I would be interested to know how the lambs go. We're looking at putting a few out ourselves, but I don't know anything about their care and maintenance

LoganClark - No, I will stick with my Russian for now. Though the death didn't seem as painless as it could have been, and I'm not a fan of that. My butchering friend wants to help me develop a market for my lambs with the significant Muslim immigrant population in our area.

 Bacon Wrapped lamb???

Sure fire hit IMO..

I've been clearing lots of brush and trees out of fencelines the last couple of weeks. Three people killed while cutting trees in the area this year. I'm careful.

A few days after I last posted in this thread, my grandfather nearly killed himself cutting firewood. Self sufficiency is dangerous.

Helena

cool thread. we are closing on our house/5 acres in a week or so.... this thread inspires.

we are going to put up a green house because we don't feel like an outside garden would survive all the critters. found a cool plan here http://ana-white.com/2012/05/plans/barn-greenhouse and will be doing a variation on it. Going to start with a few chickens. The only outside connection is electricity, but obviously have propane trucked in. we have a wood stove as well in the ground floor. would like some solar, just to make sure the freezer doesn't tanks if we lose power.
