What band? There was some awesome music on those videos!

Wonderful Broken Thing. Jeff Klindt was in the band, he went on to form Real Skateboards. Steve Bryant still plays regularly and, last time I talked to him, his label had agreed to re-release all the old stuff. youtube wonderful broken thing and you can find some of the songs.

That is friggin' awesome. Thanks!

One of my favorite times was when wonderful broken thing opened for the meat puppets on new years eve. It was at this gay bar that also had punk shows in Sacto. So when we showed up (I was 17) to load in there was a drag contest going on. All these dudes in dresses were offering to buy me drinks! It was maybe 4 pm, the fucking sun was still out, these creepers are hitting on me, jeff klindt is laughing his ass off. Fuck.

The show was incredible! WBT took a crowd that had no idea who they were & had them singing along by the end. Meat Puppets absolutely destroyed! At one point they did an insane ALL HARMONIC version of silverbells. I was back by the bar & every single glass in the racks were vibrating! It was one of the nest things I ever saw live, the entire place was transfixed, me and the bartender kept looking at the glasses, looking at the 3 guys on stage, and looking at each other like "WTF... how is this possible"

Sorry for the delayed response but awesome story! You're lucky.

If you don't mind me asking, how did Jeff Klindt die? Can't seem to find anything on the web.

Jeff died. It sucked. That's all that really needs to be said. Sorry, respect for my former friend & his family.

He was an amazing artist, talented musician, & innovative skater. We had alot of fun and he was always 100% supportive of any thing I was into trying. He was my friend. He was alot of peoples friend. Life takes you strange places sometimes.

RIP buddy.

*not alot of people know that jeff was an art major at ucd. He loved trying sculpture & installation art, but had literally had zero concept of engineering.
One time he decided he was going to build an american flag out of parking curbs. I get a call at like 10 at night to drive from Sacto to Davis because "we have a mission". No other details were given. I grab my buddy Chris & we drive to Davis. The 2 of us were still in highschool, lol.
When we get there we meet up with Jeff & Steve (WBT member, old school skater, & highschool english teacher).
Jeff tells his plan and informs us we will be stealing parking blocks all night for his art project.
Sure Jeff, let's do this....
"I think I have the ones I want picked out" says jeff.
So we get to prying up unpainted ones & red ones... my falcon & steves trooper are riding real low, we had a good haul & went to some warehouse on campus to drop them off. It was way more stealth/covert ops then necessary, BUT we were loading in stolen property, half of which had come from campus itself, lol.
"One more run" jeff says.
"What?"
"We need some blue ones" jeff says.
"What?... umm jeff, all the blue ones are always right up front, where people can see us"
"Yeah, but we need blue ones"jeff says.
"Dude, just paint some fucking blue!"
"No, wont work. Wont be authentic"

So, we went and stole a shit ton of blue ones... genius cannot be argued with. We finished around 4 am. Chris, Steve, & I all had to be at highschool by 8:10, for different reasons of course.

A few weeks later I ask Jeff how the flag was coming & he replies "not great, moving on to another project" & skates off. Steve informs me that the half finished project collapsed in the warehouse & took out several other peoples art projects in the process. Apparently jeff didn't understand that dowel rod wasn't as strong as rebar, lol.

That was jeff... brilliant, beautiful,unphased by failure or physics, & wonderfully retarded... all in one. Phone Post
