It's funny how people on here are expecting the reporter to punch the old guy back. He'd lose his job - undermine anything of the illegal activities he uncovered - and be charged with assault himself. He doesn't look like the "fight back" type to begin with, but even if he was, it is very smart to take it and use it against the old guy. People would be calling for his head for beating up an old man if he fought back and kicked the old guy's ass lol. This way, he keeps his job - he gets a rep for not being scared to go after a story - and he stays on the right side of the law.

I'm just amazed at the reporter's complete lack of social skills. He should have just stfu and moved out smartly after he got sat down. He did not handle the attack well at all, IMO. The only "rep" he has now is whiny little girl who says stupid things when scared. If he had just got up, dusted himself off and said, "alright, that's a wrap!" And walked away after being decked, it would have been much better for his image.

MrFluffyHippo - I side with the old guy. He didn't invite him in and the reporter was clearly trying to go in. And he'd been warned.

I side with the old guy on this incident. Reporter was trespassing and had already been threatened with violence. Old man did not invite reporter on to his property.

Now, as far as the tax return theft goes, I'm sure him and his son are scumbags. Even more reason reporter deserved to be hit - You don't aggrevate fucking criminals without fear of repercussion.

Fuck what was legal and illegal IMO. That's for a cop, judge, and jury to decide. I live 20 miles from that place and am not surprised one bit that reporter got decked. I'm glad he did.

If I was guilty because of stuff my relatives did, I would be locked up for life. BTW, the reporter pushed the issue and knew what he was getting into. He was just hoping to catch it on camera. You guys are retarded. The son of the old man (Donald Wilder), named Richard Wilder, used to operate a used car lot and was charged with seven counts of theft by deception and one count of racketeering for allegedly depositing customers' tax refund checks into an account and keeping the money.

He was indicted for odometer fraud, forgery, computer theft and more in 2009 and 2010. He pleaded to two felony charges in 2011.

The Georgia secretary of state issued a cease and desist order against him for running a used auto dealership without a license. But that didn't seem to stop Wilder or his family, who moved their business to Braselton and then to Gainesville.

A CBS Atlanta undercover producer found Richard Wilder selling cars and offering to complete his tax return at EZ Auto Sales at 1608 Atlanta Rd. in Gainesville. According to the secretary of state's website, Wilder is not licensed to sell used cars in Georgia.

Richard wouldn't answer the reporters questions and ran to hide. His dad, also a partner in their "business" came outside and we saw what transpired.

That reporter that everyone is saying deserved it was trying to keep these pieces of shit from robbing even more people.

Ahh, I figured there was more to this story.

Yeah you could tell old man was scummy by how defensive he was being. Reporter had every right until he grabbed the door... the old man has a good argument for self defense at that point.

If it's a business, and the reporter wasn't told he wasn't allowed there, how is the man right for punching him for trying to enter? I understand if he told he that he wasn't welcome there - and yes i'm aware that he made it clear he didn't want to fool with him - but, it is a business, and people come and go in a business all day long. If he would've told the reporter to stay out, then i'd say the reporter knew better - but to deck someone for going into a business? I don't understand people saying that was justified.

He doesn't have to specifically say you can't enter this building. He clearly told the guy to GTFO out many times. Reported was already trespassing and then trying to enter his building.

I thought this was pretty clear and was surprised that so many people chose instead to call the old man a criminal and that he assaulted the reporter for no reason.

If I tell you to get off my property numerous times and even go so far as to "almost deck you" and you insist on following me around with a camera after that, then you are really pushing it to try to follow me into my building.

The police would probably write the report with all the mitigating circumstances and send it off to the court and send the reporter on his way with a trespass warning.
