Frat. Been at this job for over 6 years, this guy has worked there since I have. We became friends pretty early on, as I am with most of my handful of direct coworkers. It's well known that this dude has anger problems. He frequently punches walls,yells, and throws shit when irrationally pissed. Today he ignored me when I passed on an important task, so I said "Yo!..." and repeated myself. He looked at me, red, started yelling about how he's sick and having a bad day, and when he walked past me to the door he planted his feet and shoulder checked me hard. This guy is built like a bull, 30, and constantly working out. He outweighs me by 40 lbs, and I flew a good 4 feet into the wall/floor. I jumped to my feet, pissed, and stood my ground, but I would get put out by one good shot from this guy. I am infuriated. I have been friends with this guy for years, and know he gets stupid angry, but I will not stand for him to put his hands on me. I went to him after and flipped, telling him how that is unacceptable, but he was still in his mode and was smiling at me, red faced. He has not apologized, and I have not reported him because I don't want to fuck over a friend for his retarded emotions, but all i can think about is hurting him physically in a way from which he will not recover... What the fuck do I do?

What was the important task and why were you passing it on? If he's your friend it's better to ask if he's ok today instead of shouting Yo! and repeating yourself.

Should be fired. There's no room for that shit in any work place. Having a talk is for when someone shows up late. Assault is automatic dismissal. Anything short of that shows him what he did was acceptable. Also, if you work with women, then you are leaving your company open to all kinds of liability. But like all threads about this shit, you will defend the guy and his behaviors, talking about how he's a good guy underneath it all.

What happens if the next time he actually hurts someone because he cant control himself? Maybe then next time his backswing on his punch clips someone just walking by or maybe someone gets hit when he throws something. Those are worthy of being canned and honestly, if you knew about it and didnt report it to anyone, and he ended up hurting someone, I would fire you as well! |

Dude needs to be shit canned. I've been there and I know it sucks. I had to fire my brother-in-law over an eerily similar situation. It made for an awkward Thanksgiving, but he eventually came to realize that he put my back against a wall, and that I had no other option. Anyone who is 30 years old and can't control their emotions any better than that most likely needs therapy.

Used to work with a guy like that same thing happened to between him and a work friend. other guy waited a week and finally said something . because he didn't immediately report it they were both fired and so was one other guy that witnessed it and didn't say anything . I would suggest you make up your mind quick .
