I trained with a more holistic approach before developing significant size and strength which I believe was necessary in the early and intermediate stages of training. Now I train 5-6 compound lifts total per week (not much else other than grappling) for multiple sets of 1-3 reps on the challenging sets (over 75% of 1RM). It works now for both size and strength goals. Having said that, I believe it was necessary to spend years of varying rep schemes to give me the mass and muscle control to make pure strength training work for both goals. |
