First week of training done. Few runs under the belt, bout 3 miles each, and a few weights sessions. Diet feels okay. Eggs in the morning, banana for a snack mid-morning, chicken veg and a small amount of brown pasta for dinner, protein shake before gym and then jacket and tuna veg for tea. Have to admit folks - I'm knackered. Trying to stick to rest days but my energy is sapping day by day.

The running gets easier. I hated doing distance running when I started it a couple years ago...but now I really enjoy my runs (I go about 5-6 miles at a slow pace). |

Hope so. Managing about three and a half miles on average, round about 33 minutes. Everywhere is hilly where I live so I have some slow miles and some pretty quick ones. Gonna have a rest today and go back to golf, back on the roads tomorrow and in the gym next week. Genuinely appreciating the support and comments on here. Determined to stick with it this time and this board really helps

Weekly update. Shit week. Only two gym sessions. Found lots if excuses - snow, shit week at work etc... Need to man up next week and get cracking again.

Must admit, starting to feel pretty good again. Training back on track, although now resting for a couple of days after a slight back twinge. But the main thing is the diet, actually finding ways to avoid crappy foods and wine. Long way to go but we're off.

Quick update people. Training on track, diet is up and down. Need to find a way of ensuring junk-free weekends, other than just pure will power. Still, slowly but surely, and I mean slowly, starting to feel good again.

If anything it's better to be perfect on diet and spotty on workouts but if you're making progress you're making progress. |

Hit a stumbling block - found out my dad has got prostate cancer. Determine to keep a routine going, including the gym, but feeling numb at the moment.
