I don't think David Lee Roth has a 'limited range' although obviously he isn't a 'great' singer. fav. 'rangey' voices would be Sebastian Bach, Dio, Jon Oliva of Savatage, pretty much anyone Richie Blackmore got (Dio, Joe Lynn Turner, Graham Bonnet), all of them have great ranges, loud voices, and can sound 'raw' and 'metal' as well. other than that I like Blackie Lawless, Brian Johnson and UDO because they sound great for 'rock', like Roth I wouldn't say they have limited ranges, but obviously not 'technical' singers like the above. |

The best modern metal singer has to be Jesse Leach. The dudes voice is so powerful, and intense. May not have the best range but man can that guy fucking pour his emotions into the music. He set the bar for what many of a singers and screamers in modern metal fail to meet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUoTimBt_ms |

Midget Tosser - devin townsend for the win That dude can sing, growl and scream like the best of them, and plays guitar like few ever could. Great choice. Dickinson is my all time favorite frontman/singer combo. |

I've always liked Tony Harnell from the band TNT. He's a great singer, and was still singing with TNT until a couple of years ago. He's doing solo stuff mostly now. You guys might remember this video from the 80's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdixVmYlXaE |

Good call. I LOVED TNT in the 80s and 90s. Great guitar playing and great singing. They should have been much more popular than they were back in the day, but that seems to be a common theme in music for most talented bands. |

Yeah, I always thought they would catch their big break sooner or later. I did especially like Le Tekro as well, great player! |

Lots of good ones here. I was especially happy to see Ray Alder. I think he's criminally underrated. And of course, Halford, Dio, Dickinson. I got to see Geoff Tate while he was still in his vocal prime. That was amazing! |

I agree with 65% of what's been posted here. I'm 43 and I go all the way back to 1975 listening to KISS as a 5 year old (my mom gave me the album). Wendy O Williams is one of my all time FAV singers between now and then. BUT... If we are talking about today standards it would be Corey Taylor. Slipknot has been my fav for the past 6-8 years. |

some good picks. Here is a guy that I never really knew from back in the day, and only really heard him on "Hear 'n' Aid. Paul Shortino - Rough Cutt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZktrrqT1A0 He is at the 1:31 and 1:55 mark on the video. |
