What in you opinion is the best worship song or video? What i mean by 'worship" song is about a song we sing to God and not about about Him. I can't really think of one better then this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWndDW_271g If you have another video please post here. |

This is awsome. Card does music based on the Master himself. The gospels come to life in his music, |

ah, the memories of an unjaded youth who made a decision to follow christ with no pre conceived notions on anything, moved by emotion, sacrifice and maybe even the spirit. I wont detail my life but if anybody has excuses for being a dirtbag, I do. Ive had many many people say, wow, I dont know anyone who went through the things you did and didnt turn out bad. I have to give credit to the human spirit and God for walking me through the tuff times, the arguments with him and even my downright hatred of christendom. He's there....somewhere. |

http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=195460 The opening words of the Lord’s Prayer are, “Our Father, who art in Heaven,” and the first two words are key to Crossan’s reinterpretation. In traditional Christian thinking, the prayer is seen as establishing a relationship between the individual petitioner and God, but Crossan takes a different view in his book and in recent media interviews. Within the context of Judaism in the 1st century CE, the term “Father,” or “Abba” in , would connote a householder who must provide equally for all members of his family, according to Crossan. In that sense, God is “The Big Householder in the Sky” who exercises “distributive justice” and who would be appalled by the huge discrepancy between rich and poor, Crossan argues. There is “a huge discrepancy between what most people think Christianity is really about and what Jesus thinks Christianity is really about,” Crossan said in an interview with the Religion News Service. Crossan is an old hand at questioning Christian dogma and is one of the founders of the Jesus Seminar, a liberal Christian group. The Seminar has proposed that many of the miracles attributed to Jesus did not occur, at least not as written in the New Testament, and that Jesus did not physically rise from the dead. |

770mdm - http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=195460 That isn't a new interpretation by a long shot. And Christians have not read that as an individual petition until very recently. |

"I always got chills from Rich Mullins, our god is an awsome god. He reigns win Wisdom, Power and Love." Man I remember that song. Sometimes I reminisce and yearn for how carefree and happy my life was in some ways back then. Everything off of Petra's Beyond belief CD. I played the crap out of that thing. I find most religions to be a joke to me now but I still think about there being a mysterious spirit sometimes. Although it appears it could care less about us. |

Give me an old hymn any day. <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/> If you were around when the Psalmist was writing music, would you have not appreciated them and said "I want some of them old Moses tunes mane!" ;-) I understand personal choices, I am just kidding. I do like how Psalms tells us to create a new song and how the praise was so varied in the Psalms/Old Testament. People dancing, jumping, raising their hands up in the temple, prostrated face down on the ground, prostrated at the knees and bowing to God. It is a mystery to me how all of these various biblical forms of worship are shunned in many groups and open to many others. |

Juijitsuboxer -gord96 - Oh man I can't stand modern Christian worship music. Give me an old hymn any day. This implies that the nature of the music doesn't matter, but I don't think that is the case. Rock and roll has the rhythm of sexuality. It causes emotional excitement in listeners. This is not the case with Bach. I am not sure what you mean by various biblical forms of worship. The earliest Christians worshiped in the same sober manner that the Jews did, in liturgy. The word liturgy is in the Greek New Testament, but conveniently removed from modern translations. You are implying that God didn't guide his people in how to worship him. |

Juijitsuboxer -gord96 - Oh man I can't stand modern Christian worship music. Give me an old hymn any day. i just think it's bad music. bad rock and roll with unending choruses. modern Christian worship music seems to repeat itself constantly. i also don't like how alot of the band leaders at some churches i attend perform like they are rock stars on stage. give me an old school church anyday. we sing hymns as a group. a few old guys on stage leading, but no one walking around strumming a guitar like he is Bruce Springsteen yelling... "one more time!" i almost walked out of a church a few weeks ago when the worship leader tried to convince the congregation that a verse in the old testament that said to "applaud God" was the bible telling us we should clap our hands after each song. |

As with other avenues of creativity, Christianity is very pathetic in its attempts to mimic the 'worlds' form of art. I have a big beef with Christian Fiction. I think it sucks to no end and I will never spend another dollar to buy a christian novel. Music, well, I have some old favorites that I posted. I liked the music as it put scripture ideas to the type of music I like, folksy, guitar. But by and large, Christian artistic endeavors just suck ass. I am attempting to rectify it in my own way. Writing is a hobby for me. Im currently 64k words into a novel. I would consider it realistic inspirational. No christian publishing house would touch it with a 10 foot pole. 1, I just want to prove to myself that I have a novel in me, 2, I intend to self publish along with a historical project involving studies, and historical material related to my story and a website Im planning. I have searched high and low for a plot like mine and I have found none. If I could sell 500 copies, I would consider it a success. Really just finishing a quality product is enough for me. |

I think by Christianity you mean American fundagelicalism. After all, the greatest artists the world has ever known have written Christian poetry, prose, novels, and plays. Not to mention the great composers, painters, and sculptors in both Western and Eastern Christianity. I believe there are many reasons why American fundagelicalism produces bad art most of the time, but those reasons have nothing to do with Christianity proper. |

But having read the original post again, Cash's song (although wonderful in the way all things Cashian are) isn't really a hymn sung TO God. I'd have to give it up for Amazing Grace. It's a nice reminder that we are ultimately saved not through faith or works or baptism (things we do) but by what God does - He grants us Grace. |

I like "Revelation Song", "O the blood" by Keri Jobe. "Hosanna", "Desert Song" by Brenda Fraser.
