Gracie Barra Culver City (under Gerson Sangnitto)has an amazing 3 black belt pinoys - Daniel Tcruz, Jeremy Geaga, and Samuel Montes (would've had 5 by now if Sam's 2 bros stuck w/it). Sam is the only full/pure-blooded pinoy. |

Worked out at her school(Leka V) a couple o times when Wander Braga was also teaching. I remember a pinay working out who was a brown belt at the time. Was pretty technical. Same pinay? If so, congrats to her. |

HOLY Shit. I can't believe I forgot about Bob Bass. Half pinoy half white. Most likely the first pinoy blooded bjj blackbelt in the world. |

I ran into Bob at the OTM shop in Redondo Beach. He's in law enforcement. Real cool dude. Looks like he was gearing up for his school or something(buying gi's and rash guards). |

Cali, but I visit my relatives in Oahu quite often. I started about 16 years ago too but took a 15 year break lol. Finally got my blue a few months ago. I remember Maguila from a long time ago as he was one of the first ever BJJ instructers to have a website and discussion board. He would post great, great story's of the old days in brazil. Congrats again for sticking with it, getting to that level must have been a very tough but fantastic journey. -p |

Does it count if you're half Filipino? Or is that the equivalent of a blue belt? Pooh Boston BJJ since 1995 |
