For some reason, I just cant catch any Bass with anything other than live bait. I throw a hook in the back of a shiner and let him swim at the top and I catch a fish. If I throw a split shot on the line, the shiner swims at the bottom and I catch Bass or catfish. But when I try a rubber worm, a rapala crankbait or skitterpop....NOTHING. And where I fish, everyone uses live bait. But when I watch pros fishing on tv for big fish, they always use a lure...WTF? Also...is it just a total waste to go fishing in the middle of the day? Are you supposed to stick with early morning or early evening?

Get a half ounce lipless crank(like a Strike King Diamond Shad). Cast it out and reel it back in as fast as you can... literally. You have ignored this user.

First thing to do is look at the fishing area as three levels top, middle and bottom. Fish all these areas till you find which level the fish are hanging. You must also try different colors. There are many different factors that go into fishing. You may want to try using a senko with no weight. Good colors are junebug, watermelon, and a few others. A Carolina Rig is great when fish don't want the big fast moving lures... Incase you don't know what a Carolina Rig is: I use the top one. The weight doesn't have to be brass and the bead doesn't have to be glass. They just make more noise. Length of leader will depend on how deep you're fishing. Maybe 2-3 feet long in under 15 feet of water and up to 4 feet long in deeper water. If you use lighter leader than your main line you won't lose your swivel, bead, and weight if you break off. As far as what to fish on this rig... you could use any kinda plastic you like. If you're looking to catch numbers of fish, get some 3" Senkos(made by Yamamoto). Watermelon color works most places. You can fish this rig a few different ways, but I usually just cast it out and let it sink. The weight will hit bottom pretty soon, but the Senko will fall really slow that last 3 feet. Keep the slack outta your line without moving the weight and watch your line. If it moves, drop your rod tip, reel up the slack and set the hook! After you think your Senko has hit bottom(watch it sink in shallow water to get an idea), lower your rod, reel up the slack, and SLOWLY lift your rod, dragging the weight toward you an inch at a time. The Senko will lift up behind it and swim along. When your rod tip is back up you start all over again. Keep the slack out. Watch your line. Wait for the Senko to sink to the bottom. Etc... Another thing... Sometimes the fish will just pick the bait up and you won't feel anything or see your line move. When you go to drag the weight, you'll just feel a little extra weight. Like you hooked a washcloth... Drop the rod tip, reel up the sack, and set the hook! Last time I was out(5 days ago) I caught 15-20 bass on this rig and almost all of them I never felt bite. Just that extra weight. Hook sets are free. You have ignored this user.

I used a worm that was recommended with hook that had a weed guard. I only had 45 min to fish, cause it started raining. But I definitely got a few nibbles. I will keep you posted. If you feel them nibbling but can't hook up, try slowing down or speeding up. Vary your speed and make a mental note of what works best. When you feel those little bites, you can try just killing it. Let it set there with a little slack in your line for a few seconds. Watch for you line to move. If it moves, set the hook. If it doesn't, just lower your rod, reel up the slack and lift real slow feeling for that extra weight. You could also throw something smaller. If you're throwing a 4" or 5" worm, switch to a 3" worm. You have ignored this user.

Any tackle shop with bass fishing gear should have Yamamoto Senkos in 3, 4, and 5 inch. These are Senkos... You have ignored this user.

I think it is cause there is too much pressure on the fish. Where I go, you pay to fish..so there are lots of people there and the fish have seen everything. Tried worms (even 5"..LOL)spinner baits, lures, etc. The only thing that gets a fish on the line is live bait! You have ignored this user.
